Ah, go back to some threads. I remember during the season, when people asked who they would want to coach UK, Spikes said Calipari. All kinds of people on here said no way, and specifically said "WWW". A bunch of people on here had much distain for World Wide, and John Calipari to be honest. I was not one of them. I would rather have that duo than any other in the country, and that was before he was even considered at UK.

Thank you Cats, I tried to go back and find the specific thread where I had it on with some posters about Cal to UK and World Wide but it didn't go back far enough.

 

And I'm not going to name specific posters because that would just start an argument, but it did happen.

I think a lot of big time programs have this kinda guy around he just happens to be the most prominent.

Great article. WWW seems to be the kind of guy you want on your team and the kind of guy you hate to go against. If things continue to work out for WWW the way they have been, then the best of UK is yet to be seen....

 

He moved across the hallway from LeBron after Dajuan Wagner was done??? Great timing there.

 

He also happened upon Tyreke Evans while attending an AAU tourney that had soon to be Memphis recruit playing in it also.

 

As most of you know, I am far from a UK basketball fan, but I look forward to seeing what kind of talent he swings UK's way.

I think he is for sure out for himself in the long run, but I think he also tries to do what is best for that player too. He knows the game and can get these kids in with the right people and help them find the right fit. I think he looks out for the kids best interest while also looking out for his own. Its pretty much a win win for WWW.

He is a well connected man, and has been around for years. His relationship with Cal didn't really start until Cal hired Milt Wagner, so that his son would come to Memphis. Wagner and WWW have been friends for years. WWW really doesn't work for Coach Cal, he is in there with a lot guys. He used to be a big UofL man, until the whole Wagner episode. You will still see him at a couple UofL games a year, and many others. He was the guy who restrained Ron Artest a few years back in the fight, he is everywhere.

 

I've always thought he was a little shady, but he must not be. People have known him for years and he's never been in any trouble.
