You aren't very enlightened and are very naive. NKY programs, Class 1 through 6, has had an abundance of athletes which match the likes of T,X, and Male. Every year there are big time football players in this area but they typically don't go to one school for sports, ie. T and X. Also Your short term memory must have failed you, Dixie over T in 2003 and Sk over Male in 2008.. It'll happen again

There are no sleepers in 6A-Trinity and St X will win every year.

 

Well, we'd like to think so. As long as Warren County, Boone County and Oldham County continue to build new high schools, those areas may not pose serious threats. Lexington could, but their youth leagues may hold them back.

 

Round 4 this coming season will offer a district 6 or district 8 team a chance to visit Marshall Stadium the day after Thanksgiving, assuming Trinity can withstand the onslaught from within their district and that of Male, Fern Creek, Southern and Bullitt Central. Then it's off to Bowling Green for the survivor to take on the Tigers from Poplar Level Rd.:popcorn:

We all know that Trinity and St.X will be in the thick of it next season and in all likelihood one of the two is the favorite and may well end up winning the title next season.

 

That out of the way, which teams have the opportunity and the ability to step up and knock down one of these titans next season?

 

Is Male, with everything they have returning capable?

Is Simon Kenton with their stud running back returning a contender?

Will another year under Coach Jackson turn Ballard into a powerhouse?

Will Manual finally break through the ceiling and take down the Tigers?

 

What do the 6A observers think?

 

Male hasn't been "Male" since 06, and unfortunately for them Justin Green isn't returning. They will probably win their district, and a playoff game or two, but will hit the wall hard in a 3rd round game vs. Trinity if they get that far.

 

Simon Kenton, like Male, will likely win its first 2 playoff games, only to get drummed by St. X in the regional finals.

 

Only because of DaMarcus Smith's injury, Ballard won't finish last in that tough district.

 

Even if Manual were playing a pansy schedule they would still lose twice to St. X.

 

 

Eastern didn't lose much off an 11-2 team whose only two losses were lopsided ones to Trinity. Scott Co. will make their usual noise, might even make it to the semi-state. LBS could make a run. Mad Cen is another that usually makes it out a round or two. But they will all have turned in their equipment by December 1.

 

If it's not Trinity vs. St. X in week 15, it will be a bigger upset than if it wasn't those two last year.

All of the teams in Region 7 and 8 are "down" this year(in comparison to the last couple of years) except Dunbar and Tates Creek and neither of those two have had success as of late. Lafayette also lost their OC recently which has hurt them. To me Trinity and St. Xavier seems to be the logical choice as well. If a I had to name a true darkhorse this year I would like to throw Conner out there, I believe they have a one of the best players nobody really talks about in Nick West.

All of the teams in Region 7 and 8 are "down" this year(in comparison to the last couple of years) except Dunbar and Tates Creek and neither of those two have had success as of late. I think Conner is a nice pick as a true sleeper. West is very good and Pugh is good as well. I am looking forward to seeing them scrimmage Beechwood a week from Friday.

 

The team I think to look out for in N. Ky. though is Boone Co. Their backfield is going to be one of the best with Quainoo (sp?), Oppenheimer and Alford back at QB. N. Ky. 6A is going to have more quality teams this year than we have seen in a while.

SK did get on a roll after a 6-4 regular season, and Ryle and Boone both will be strong but the NKY district is wide open, 1-4 should be very entertaining. If Conner can run the ball they very well be the most balanced offensive team in NKY.

 

Don't get me wrong as I am a big fan of Coach Redman's. Ballard played for a state title in 1984 vs. Christian County...he left for Waggener after the '85 season...returned to Ballard as an assistant for the 1991 season...Ballard football has been pretty consistent and competitive since 1991 when Chris Roberts was the Head Coach, in fact ranked #1 both in 91 and '92...Roberts resigned after the '94 season to go into administration...Steve Bocko took over and still the Bruins played in Regional finals...next Head man was Mark Catlett and in 10 years never had a losing record...granted they did not play for or win a state title due to the obvious T and X domination...with the exception of Male no one else did either...but they have been fairly consistent.

I have heard that the Head coach will resume the play calling duties at Lafayette. He was the OC under Harmon and they were pretty successful back then. Losing the OC should not hurt them too bad. Looks like all of the Fayette county schools will be better this year IMHO.

I agree with you about Boone. I think they'll win the district and advance the farthest. I think if Rick throws the ball a little more than he has in the past and opens up the offense to get the ball into Quainoo's hands outside the tackle box, they could make it to BG. There are a lot of very talented kids on Boone this year and if Rick spreads the football around and doesn't allow the opponent to put 9 in the box, they can go very, very far.
