The issue here is "able" vs. "willing".

 

They return their quarterback who is "able" to pass, but is their coaching staff "willing" to pass the ball in an effort to gain a balance on offense?

 

Excellant reply. The QB can definitly pass, BUT, will the coach do it???? Just making the play offs is nice, BUT, at some point you have to change your play calling to try and win a state title, not just be satisfied with play offs each year.

It seems other NKY 6A teams are taking that step.

These programs attract the top athletes from four counties and from Southern Indiana. Their DB's will always be faster and more athletic than our WR's and to think a Northern Ky team will ever win a shootout with Trinity or X is Crazy!

Any type spread offense run by a Northern Ky school against these type powerhouse programs will only put their (X and Trinity) offense on the field more with more opportunities to score and they will score!

The key to ever being successful against these talented programs if BALL CONTROL!!!

If Boone County couldn't do it with BALL CONTROL and Shaun Alexander what proof have you that it will work otherwise?

 

Teams that have beaten EITHER of these powers in the playoffs outside of each other have been teams with balance on offense. Meade County in 2001, Male in 2000, 2002 and 2006, Dixie Heights in 2004.

 

Those teams had balance, without balance you will find your "BALL CONTROL" offense stuffed because we'll put 9 in the box.

 

1994: Trinity 21 Boone County 7

2006: Trinity 46 Ryle 7

2008: Trinity 48 Simon Kenton 0

 

 

Ball control has worked really well against us.

Boone County had no passing game at all (did they even throw the ball 5 times)

Louisville Male had great athletes that could match the athletes of Trinity those years.

Simon Kenton (just not enough talent to over come a school that gets athletes in a 30mile radius)

By the scores you have posted it doesn't look as though any of those schools had any BALL CONTROL 14 pts in 3 games 94,06,and 08.

Boone County with the running of Alexander was the only team in the game and if they would of thrown the ball say 12 to 15 times they may have the ring.

BALL CONTROL is not only running the ball!Its using both the pass and run to control clock and score!Trinty and X offense is just to good to be on the field because usually as the scores you posted show bad things happen to teams that put the ball in those offenses hands!

Bryan Station was not a young team. far from it. Apparently you don't study your opponents. Also there is no reason to take offense, I've seen Bryan Station play more times than probably 99.9 % on this board. Bryan Station lost A TON from last year, that is fact. With all that D-1 talent they won 6 games. You are not the only one talking them up, many people have been jumping on the band wagon, I just don't see it.

 

They lost Philon, Suter, Childrey, McCann, Blackburn, Saifullah, Cornett and many others this will be a rebuilding year for them, Scott Co. is the team to beat in that weight class.

 

BS lost the other four regular season games by a total of 20 points combined. Then lost to HIGHLANDS,in the first round of the playoffs by less than a TD.Do you think the players lost to graduation might be replaced by better players, D1 or not? I think that is very possible,don't you? JMO.

BS will be better this year than last year. Yes they lost a couple of good kids to graduation but the juniors were the core of that team. Keep in mind that they were also playing with a sophmore QB that cost them some games early on. Most importantly, 7 starters return on defense and 6 on offense in cluding the QB and 3 on the O-line (which will be bigger and more athletic this year). They can be really good and if nothing else a tough out come playoff time.

 

By the way I think it is a bit unfair to these kids to judge them based on what BS teams did 5 or more years ago. Those teams were awful and poorly coached. If anyone has watched them over the past three years they have seen solid steady development of the program as a whole and there is no reason to think that this group can not win at a high level.

No offense to this fine player - but think it has been shown over and over that cannot win with just one.

That's a missed assignment on D, or a bad pursuit angle. Bottom line is I've heard they return 7 on D and 7 on O. Including arguably their best two players. I'd say with how wide open NKY 6A is they could still be considered a sleeper out of that region, but I think they'll be good again.

Your math is a lot fuzzy. Even throwing out the Trinity and Conner games, which you would never do in analyzing how good a defense is over the course of a season, SK allowed over 17 points a game. Big difference between 8.5 and 17.

You aren't very enlightened and are very naive. NKY programs, Class 1 through 6, has had an abundance of athletes which match the likes of T,X, and Male. Every year there are big time football players in this area but they typically don't go to one school for sports, ie. T and X. Also Your short term memory must have failed you, Dixie over T in 2003 and Sk over Male in 2008.. It'll happen again
