No one gave the Cats a shot to beat LSU when they were #1 either. The Cats are always tough at home and this will be the best defense in many years.

 

They are hating b/c even with crappy schedule UL will still not go 500. The Cats on the other hand played Bama tough down there last year and UK will be much better this year. Also BAMA lost Senior QB and some O/D linemen.

I think it is a good idea to play on Saturday, players seemed more focused because they don't have to worry about going through a whole school day. When they wake up Saturday morning football is the only thing on their mind, no distractions

Beatty will have a morning walk through just to get the kids out of bed and thinking football all day.

No he is fine. X will be better this year in attitude and working. Their d-line and LBer's will be some of the best they have had and that is saying alot. The dline will be one of the strongest. Maybe even close to the Tronzo group.

I will always believe Jurich could have blocked out that date. If you study the total ESPN broadcast package listed on the Big East website, there were all sorts of alternatives. I also think it is laughable the the KHSAA moved the finals out of Papa John's and the mighty Cards do not play anyone the first weekend of December.

 

 

UOFL HAD NO CHOICE!!! They signed an agreement with the Big East to accept whatever the Big East decided - as all conferences do...The Big East owns the stadium scheduling per the Conference agreement. What is laughable is the KHSAA couldn't wait until the schedule was finalized before they moved to Bowling Green.

 

If Louisville Schools should be so lucky to make it to the finals the KHSAA just killed their attendance.

Here we go again, another season of Bigger and Better coming from Poplar Level Road. Trinity doesn't need the play that mind game. I'll take our system, our conditioning program and our system for developing talent by playing them on JV so they are better suited to start as Seniors over X's system anyday.

Iam doing just fine. Both schools lose alot of talent that will not be easily replaced. The talent gap between X&T and the rest of the state will not be as wide as it has been the last 5-6 years. With that being said, I think this could be the year that someone other than X or T win the title. Trinity will and should be favored to win it all but will have to be injury free at key positions come playoff time. In order for St.X to win it all they must be able to make opposing teams respect the passing game come playoff time. Legit speed at WR is possible if the coaching staff makes a couple position moves. With the depth at DB and RB they can afford to do it. IMO.

Nothing subtle about it. St. Xavier plays a very few juniors, Trinity plays juniors who do not start at a particular position for varsity, during JV games (i.e. Stein and Smyth played WR on varsity while playing QB at JV level).Many junior lineman play for Trinity. I believe the Beatty system is working just fine.

There are no rules against playing anyone in the program at the JV level. A little used senior may play as long as both schools agree.

Coach Beatty believes in getting his second string Varsity as many reps as possible versus letting them sit idle their Junior season like St.X has been known to do. If you are a Sophomore or Junior and you are on that second string, you are going to play JV until it's your turn to step up and start on Varsity. My son started two season's (Sophomore and Junior years) on JV and played mop up minutes on Varsity as a Junior. Being a Senior dominated program year in and out, this gives Trinity's players real game experience to step in their Senior season and make an impact. It's called developing your talent. I believe the light finally went off last season on Poplar Level Road. I'm told X played more Juniors on JV than they have in the past.
