Pool 1 is loaded. These 4 teams would make a good D2 Final 4. The best player in that pool will be Dominique Hawkins with the Madison County Colonels, with Ryan Timmons not too far behind. Lexington Catholic, as always, fields a solid team and the Wolfpack will battle. I really wouldn't be surprised with any of these teams being one of the two getting out of the pool, but I will take Frankfort Flyers and Madison County Colonels.

Pool 2 is not bad either, but the RC Celtics have a couple of players that normally play for D1 teams (Jason Hatcher with the Ville and Damien Robinson with the Rising Stars). If both of those players play with those teams, and I expect they will, then I will take the NKY Bulls and Scott County to get out of that pool. Scott County will be led by Quin Richardson, who played for Georgetown Thunder last year and will join KY Elite for the rest of the summer after this weekend.

I know very little about teams in Pool 3, other than the Flash will get after you. River City Hurricanes will be good in Pool 4.

Mark it down. 4:15 on Court 3 will be an absolute battle and a preview of the championship on Sunday.

I agree, Pool 3 is easiest the weakest of the 4 but you never know what will happen. It will be a good tournament..

afi100guy, what are your picks to win the pools? You aced the U13, let's see your U14 picks.:notworthy:

I agree that KY Elite and The Ville should be in the finals, but do not count out the Rising Stars. The No. 1 seed from pool play will be important because it will get you away from the Rising Stars in the semis and give you an easy game against the Lexington Blaze.

You have to favor The Ville because they are the two-time champs and return pretty much the same group (minus Blake Sanders, who is with KY Elite). But, it will be a battle. Last year in pool play, The Ville beat the Thunder by 2, but the Thunder was upended in the semis by the Rising Stars and didn't get a return shot on Sunday. Hopefully this year, the tide can be turned on The Ville by the Elite and titles will be won on consecutive weekends. Either way, it will be fun watching it.

Much tougher this week. Last week, the 4 strongest teams were in different pools. Here it goes.

D1

Ky Elite win pool and beat the Ville in the championship (both games not as close as some might think).

D2

Pool 1 - NKY Wolfpack

Pool 2 - Scott County

Pool 3 - NKY Flash

Pool 4 - River City Hurricanes

Rematch of last year's finals, but Wolfpack win it this year.

solid picks!

good luck to your son this weekend!

What tournaments have they won and finished runner-up in?

They won the Capital City Classic this past weekend, which featured Scott County, River City Celtics, Madison Colonels, and Harrison County. The Flyers beat Scott County in the semifinals and Madison in the finals in two very close games. They finished runner up in the Derby City Hoopla at Mid America losing to Columbus East out of Indiana in the finals by 5, and finished runner up in the Scott County 14 Under tournament losing to KY Elite in the finals by 8 after being down 17 at the half after that coach of theirs got a technical foul resulting in 4 free throws and the ball for Elite. Tough pool for them but think if they play their game they can come away in the top 2.

:thumb: Sounds as if that school has a bright future in front of them.

Just wondering why you think Pool 3 is the easiest?

Would that be KY Elite 13U? I don't remember the KY Elite 14U playing in the Scott Co tournament. I think it was KY Elite 13U playing up.

Bullit Storm and Logan Thunder have lost to 7th grade teams by 15 or so. The NKY Flash should win this pool easily, however, I don't know much about the Spartan team.

I'm trying to figure out if you have an affinity toward the KY Elite:laugh:

Good luck to the Elite and Pack this weekend:ylsuper:

Because none of the teams in it would come out of another pool..

I think the NKY Flash could come out of another pool. Ogle is a great coach and they play tough man 2 man defense!
