Beat Elite by 3 yesterday in a thriller.

The Championship game was a good one till the 4th Quarter.

They went on an 8 point run 35 seconds into the 4th with a few Elite Starters out getting a break and never looked back. Great Athleticism! I thought the Elite represented themselves well even though they were missing a few players.

If this team stays together and get more practices in and play more with each other they will do well.

I wish Q Richardson a speedy Recovery.

That was a bad scene and decision by the Flash player.

I am sure he wishes he had made a different choice.

 

Congrats to The Ville and the Elite... Also the Flash for winning the only games for NKY. But I can't give congrats to the inappropriate play of taking players out. I wasn't there so I keep it at that... I'll just say, my team has played them about 3 times and it was rough at times in all three.

Back it up... Bulls had one game at SOAS where they took a huge lead against Old Spice and at the end of the game a player from both teams was ejected. GET YOUR FACTS, before coming on here saying teams had problems... KBA has problems, I've been down there at state for the last 10 years + and it's always something with the refs there and NKY teams.

I wasn't there this weekend, but saw and have heard all state tournament season long that the referees take the game personal. I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding the NKY players and coach getting ejected, but it's all too a familiar theme for the KBA.

I went yesterday and thought the officiating was very good. They had the best officials that I have seen at the KBA in a while. There were several younger guys that are just getting started calling high school games that do very well.

 

I thought there was some great talent there. Both the Ville team and the Ky Elite teams were loaded. Richardson and Hawkins (I believe thats his name, the kid from Madison Co.) were both very good!

First of all, you should read all posts regarding this topic. The only teams I mentioned were the Flash and the Flight. A previous poster had said that they had players and coach ejected. I mentioned nothing regarding the Bulls. I believe that was "Putmeincoach". So..........before getting so defensive, perhaps you should GET YOUR FACTS. BTW, I must agree with SpinDoc. These teams have other issues, and it's not the KBA.

The assistant coach for the Flight got a T in the first game of the tournament. Head Coach got seatbelt after the fact. It was not the head coach in that one.

Did anyone see the kid from Scott Co get taken out? Did you think the kid went in with the intent to take him out of the game or was it just a hard foul? What point of the game was it and what was the score at that point?

It looked pretty bad to me. The kid needs to learn a lesson from what he did. He made no attempt on the ball at all and took a very good player out of the tournament. At the same time I don't know what was going through his head.

It was a 6-8 point game late 3rd quarter. I think the intent was to not allow the layup, but the kid from Flash unfortunately took it a little overboard. I think the ejection was very fair. The injury was unlucky.

I have been watching this thread, and and felt compelled to reply. First, best of luck to the Scott Co. player who was injured vs. the Flash. He is a very talented player and seems like a very good kid. With regard to rest of what has been speculated in this thread, and contrary to what has been assumed on here, the Flash had no problems with anyone at the KBA all weekend at the state tournament. After the Flash lost in the semi-finals to Scott Co., the tournament director congratulated the Flash coaches and players, calling them a "class" team and organization. In fact, the Flash's previous two appearances in the state AAU tournament at KBA were similar (semi-final loss in '08 and quarterfinal loss in '07) with no problems whatsovever. The Flash coach, Mark Ogle, is a great coach and a class guy. His teams have always played tough, fundamental man-to-man defense, and as one local high school coach has remarked "I wish my teams played defense like the Flash plays defense". This year, as one would expect from two teams trying to advance to the state finals, the semi-final game between Scott Co. and the Flash was a very close and hard fought game on both sides. It was not played dirty or out of control on the part of either of the two teams or their coaches. The referees did a good job as well. The injury happened on a fast break attempt by Scott Co. with players from both teams flying down the court as fast as their eighth grade legs could carry them. While it was called an intentional foul, no one in the stands was even aware that the Flash player had been ejected until after the game. The Flash player who committed the foul checked on the Scott Co. player at least three times that I saw - after he was assisted from the court, after the game was over and he walked out of the KBA with him as he was leaving. To my knowledge, the Flash player has never been a "dirty" player and has never been involved in a play like this before. Knowing the player and his family, and based on what I saw at the game and after the game, I am certain that the Flash player did not intentionally injure the Scott Co. player. It is a shame that adults get on this thread and make assumptions about eighth grade boys for the worst. Best of luck to the injured player and his Scott Co. team.
