I paid very close attention to that comment and picked up on the fact he said he could not talk to them after he signed the contract yesterday. Sooooo...... I am sure we are all hoping he took care of all that prior to signing.

I'm not familiar with all the little inside rules on recruiting. I am wondering - can assistants still talk to them, etc?

As soon as they ask out of their LOI's, which they most likely will, they're fair game.

I thought he was referring to Louisville, since everyone was talking about Krag at UL, nevermind then

He does a good job of backing the Cards and goading UK fans, while maintaining his loyalty to Duke.

It's an easy mistake to make.

I think that's probably the only lie he told today. :thumb:

Just because he said he wouldn't recruit them, doesn't mean his assistants won't .

Or that they won't come anyways.

He just said he couldn't call the guys who had signed LOI's, right? My assumption was that if/when they were released from those letters, he could recruit them again.

Is that right?

I don't see why he couldn't/wouldn't. If they are released, they are like "free agents", right?

Gottlieb just reported on ESPNews that Henry was just granted his release...

Kentucky and Kansas will battle it out for him...

That's my take. He's just making it clear that nothing is going to happen with those guys as long as they're obligated to their LOI's @ Memphis.

But, my guess is if/when they get out, he'll be making a big push to get them in Lexington.

I'm still curious how Kentucky could take him, seeing as how UK does not have any scholarships?

If Cousins, Wall and Henry wanted to come to UK , how would that be possible?

Without coming out and saying it, Calipari seemed to want to rid the team of some "dead weight" in preparation for something big.

I got that sense as well...

"If you can't play, I can't hide you..."

Doesn't sound good for three quarters of our current roster, IMO.

From the news conference, Cal sure knew how to make the Kentucky faithful happy. He did his research on anything and everything around Kentucky basketball.

He has the people wrapped around his finger, and for good reason. Kentucky is now a contender every year. Now don't say I'm predicting a championship every year, but with the talent Cal can amass, Kentucky will be sitting very pretty.
