Best Senior To Be In NKY!

Featured Replies

Perhaps this is a topic for another thread, but is this the best class ever in N. Ky.? Collinsworth, Simpson and Nichols have their pick of D1 offers and 3 of that quality by itself makes an argument this is the best class. West, Roller and Grubbs are likely D1 signees. With the recruiters in the area looking at all the above, don't be surprised if another player or two picks up a D1 offer. I can't remember another class as good as this one in N. Ky.[/QUOTE]

Class of 1983 -('82 football season - all Div 1 Scholarships) - Mike Robinson UK; Greg Kunkel UK; Jeff Kremer UK; Ken Brown UK; Todd Shulte - Michigan; Tim Shulte - Michigan;

I am sure I've missed a couple of other D1 scholarships that year.

Thanks for the info. That is a very good class. I believe the Schultes went to Michigan State though, not Michigan.

Also interesting that your post comes right after the one that talks about Welz playing TE this year for Highlands but maybe playing OT in D1. That is exactly what happened with Greg Kunkel. He was about the same size as Welz and an all state level player as TE at Lloyd. But at UK they made him a OT. He became a very good OT starter at UK and good enough to get signed as a free agent by the Oakland Raiders, although he was not able to make it to their final roster.

It was Michigan.

Jake Smith is a definite #1 in my book for NCC. Austin "Buzzy" Johnson for CCHS is another one.

West from Conner. He'll put up some huge numbers.

Jody Demling had a piece on West on his blog and said that West is getting interest from UC, WKU, Ball St, Central Michigan, Murray, UL, and IU.

Demling says he may be the best qb in the state this year.

He's doing a biweekly diary on cincinnati.com. They've got a few local prospects on there doing them. Here's his first one.

Good question.

West is a very good QB, I gained a ton of respect for him after two great games vs SK and his performance against Ryle on one leg.

I thought Bardo should have been the starting quarterback for Highlands last year. But since Guidugli led them to a State Championship it is hard to question the decision. I think that since Bardo has had relatively little exposure at quarterback, West would have to be considered the best at this time.

We may see that Bardo is an absolute stud come week one, but I agree with you. It's hard to give the nod to Bardo without much of a track record when West will be starting his 3rd year for the Cougars.

Demling had a comment that Bardo ran a 4.5 40.

The Birds have so many weapons it is ridiculous...:scared:

Those are very impressive numbers period. With his size and those athletic numbers he will and should be highly recruited. He looks like a very athletic QB. Good luck Mr. Bardo and the mail box should be full.
