Hatz I agree....Boyle will be a very good balanced team, stop the run they pass. Stop the pass they run. I think Boyle's first option will be to run the ball. The Rebels has players that will step up in the reciever position. Overall as a team I think the defense is what will suprise everybody. With Lamar roaming the field and Grant in the trenches, Boyle will not need to score many points.

Paul Megilligan will also be a force to be dealt with.:D

Along with a very solid group of junior linebackers that bring the wood on every play to complement Lamar if you make it past Paul and Grant.

Secondly, expectations for Boyle County this year is going to be extremely high. The bar is being set high. Boyle County has all the ingredients to make this a State Championship season. Boy, I can't wait for opening kick off. :ylsuper:

How do you think Goldsmith will handle the QB position? And do you think that they will be as good as they were last season?

Fromk what I have heard, Goldsmith seems to be doing fine. Personally, I am not worried about the qb position. Mason was solid, but he wasn't Brandon Smith or Jeff Duggins. I don't anticipate too much fall off, if any, from the qb position. Boone actually has a better arm than Mason, but Mason was better at running the ball than Boone. The only question mark about Boone will be his decsion making, but again, I am not worried about the qb position.

 

Me personally, I think we will be as good as last season. I think we have a tougher schedule than last year, so we may not be undefeated, but as folks have stated, expectations are high, and at this point, I feel safe to say that anything other than a State Championship appearance at the least will be a huge disappointment. That is my mindset going into this season.

That was a great game at Bell County I sure hop that the both of us are playing each other once again. We have been on that side were we have had a bad taste in our mouths I hope that we can get on a run like you guys had we will have to just wait and see. Good luck in 09.

PurplePride pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. Everyone that has seen Boone Goldsmith play knows that he has a much better arm than Philip Mason. The only thing anyone may wonder about Goldsmith is his decision making. It a little unknown at this time as we have only had a glimpse of what he can do. With that being said, I personally think he will fit the system perfect while making all the necessary throws. No team shall under estimate his play making ability.

This group along with the coaching staff have the desire to put in the extra time and effort to be State Champions. Look for Boyle to lose one game in their march to Bowling Green. IMO they will be better than last season. Why, because their defense will be better, much better. Like others have said I am not worried about the quarterback postition at all. Boone can't run as well as Phillip, but with Reese in the backfield he will not need to anyway.

 

My only concern is that I'm not sure of the kicking game. Extra points can come back and bite you in a close game.

You make a great point, Rebel. Boyle County not only lost the kicker, but the punter as well(Jordan Aumiller). Aumiller was a wonderful punter IMO and I thought JT Ross was a decent kicker so that brings up some questions in the kicking game. I think that's right. Barsotti is not that bad also. We may not be kicking any 35-50 yard field goals, but I don't see extra points being an issue. And besides, if they do become an issue, that just means we'll have to use Reese and go for 2, right?
