Clyde Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 On the Leno show , trying to be funny, the President made a "joke" that will not be received well. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/03/president-ob-15.html
Gunner11 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Ouch. Just a bad choice of words... Just say you are a really bad bowler...
Watusi Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 It won't be received well, but it should be understood for what it was. We've all made statements that we immediately wished we hadn't said them as soon as the words were out. I don't think for one minute that the President intended any disrespect to the disabled or to special olympics. He made a poor comparison and he should have thought his comment out better, but it was not meant to be derogatory.

Guest Bluto Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 That's what happens when he doesn't have the teleprompter to tell him what to say.
True blue (and gold) Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 That's what happens when he doesn't have the teleprompter to tell him what to say. Of course, he didn't have a teleprompter in any of his debates with McCain and he did just fine. That's a tired excuse. Poor choice of words tonight.

Oscar Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I'm not even a fan of the guy, but geez, he is a human. He makes mistakes. He says things and then wishes he could insert his foot in his mouth. I have said the EXACT same thing, not even thinking about it, and afterwards realized how it could be recieved. I moved on and survived from my tragic misuse of words, I'm sure he will too..and this is the least of his problems he should worry about.
Blue Magic Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I for one actually like and can appreciate how real of a person BHO is.

cammando Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Can you imagine the outrage if Bush had said this???
True blue (and gold) Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Excuse? I don't think that I am the one who makes excuses for Obama.... Ok. Poor choice of words on MY part. Let me rephrase (and ignore any possible suggestion that I make excuses for Obama). The "he can't speak without a teleprompter" mantra is nonsense. He did perfectly fine during the debates with McCain.
Fatman Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Can you imagine the outrage if Bush had said this??? Bush would have never said it. He's a good bowler.
bballfamily Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 How many of us that are teachers on this forum have said things that you wish you could take back immediately. Or how many had teachers that let something slip that they tried to quickly cover up. Some may have been mean, but most were funny, something you you never expected that teacher to say. We all do slip on an occassion. That is why I beleve that most of the time we let it go. Even if you slip up as much as Biden, most of what he says is foolish, but harmless. Although some of his gaffes you have to wonder about the guy. Take each gaffe on its own merits.
