UK NIT Strategy

What? Are you trying to turn the fanbase on their ear? I don't know if they can survive another year of looking over their shoulders at two teams.

Why the antagonizing? What purpose does it serve other then to try and make people mad? Come on now.

You get more practices and you get more game(s). Since there are no seniors who play, you work on getting better in practice so that you can play better in the game and win. If you can correct mistakes from this past season, that should make you better next year.

If they don't win, then practice is over.

Yep. There are what? Seven first year players on this team. The more games and practice, the better.

As Herm Edwards would say " You play to win the game!"

Seeing as how only Carter should be gone next year, whoever plays will be gaining experience that can help next year.

Off the subject, but how many seats does Memorial Coliseum hold and are there any bad seats?

Not antogonizing. Just stating fact. There appear to be more UK fans worried whether or not North Carolina catches them on the wins list rather than how well their season goes. Posts on here prove that

You can't have it both ways. Are you playing to win or are you playing to get better for next season? If its just going to be the PP/Meeks show who exactly is getting better?

8500 I believe and no, there isnt a bad seat
I'm on record as saying they will get nothing out of accepting the NIT bid other than money. Many have told me they will benefit because it will give them one more chance to work on their game. I say that's a fallacy.

So for those of you who fall into the camp of "one more game will make them better for next year" tell me this.

Are you willing to have them work on getting more people involved in the offense at the expense of less shots for PP and Meeks? That's their #1 issue, right? So if they are truly trying to get better for next year shouldn't they de-emphasize PP and Meeks? Let Liggins get more minutes and shots? Let Galloway get time at the 2 and the 3? Let Harrelson work on his inside game? Put Stevenson on the bench where he belongs?

Are you willing to let them "work on things" even if it lessens their chances of beating UNLV?

Or do you play to win?

I would definitely try to work on things for next year. If Liggins is coming back I would definitely let him log as many minutes as possible, and just see what you can get from him running the point for the majority of the game.

You seem to forget the fact that Miller and Galloway were getting better and better with each game. And, the better they get, the better the Cats chances of winning the NIT and getting better for next year.

True, but Galloway has to be on the floor to keep improving.

Galloway has to be on the floor more for UK to be better next year and he can't just be out there to get the ball to PP. They need to run some sets for him and let him continue to work on his game. I don't think that will happen in the NIT. BCG will coach to win more games in a meaningless season vs taking advantage of 40 minutes to work on next season.

According to Matt May of the Catspause, at today's presser, BCG said they are playing to win and that all the players on the roster have very little postseason experience. He says this will give them valued experience. So with that said look for the same rotation we've seen all year.

You can't have it both ways. Are you playing to win or are you playing to get better for next season? If its just going to be the PP/Meeks show who exactly is getting better?

You raise a very interesting question & valid point.

However, EVERYBODY who plays on this team could be back next season, so it doesn't matter who plays. Assuming that those guys come back (or are able to come back), then we'll still be playing with "next year's team".

Its not just a matter of WHO plays. Its how they are used.
