BigSpikes Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Who would you take #1? This is a team that has many, many needs that must be addressed. Would you take: Aaron Curry, Michael Crabtree, Mark Sanchez, Matt Stafford, BJ Raji, Jason Smith or another player? I would personally take Sanchez, I know he has only started 16 games in his career at USC, but I think he is a better "Quarterback" than Matt Stafford; who has trouble reading coverage and likes to make throws that some wouldn't. Sanchez has a good arm, is accurate, mobile enough to avoid a pass rus and has the moxie of a big time QB.
AverageJoesGym Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 I would definately take Michael Crabtree. Then I'd trade my 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks to move up to get Percy Harvin. Signed, Matt Millen
MJAlltheWay24 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 They always have had great WR's, and that kinda hasn't gotten them anywhere. I would pass on Crabtree.

Jim Schue Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 They always have had great WR's, and that kinda hasn't gotten them anywhere. I would pass on Crabtree. Actually, it's more like they drafted what they thought were great WRs.
CoachBuckett Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 QB from USC. He is a proven play maker and winner.
saint4 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 QB from USC. He is a proven play maker and winner. IMO, with only 1 season under his belt, he is too risky and not enough game experience to go 1 overall.
stick1 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Curry. NO WAY I take one of the QB's there! They are going to drop way down in the draft IMO! Crabtree/Johnson could be as good or better than Boldin/Fitz so that would be awesome but I can't imagine them drafting a WR with the first pick. Crabtree will be a Raider I think. I would try to trade back if I'm the Lions but most people don't want the 1st pick because of the money. I think they could trade up around 15 with picks if they really had to get a QB. IMO they better put the pieces in place before they go get the QB. They will probably finish bad again so I say get the pieces then next year get a QB. There are QB's out there that can play to fill the gap this year. It's not like they are going to win it all.
NEERFAN Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I think I would take the safest pick, and with the history of the NFL draft I can't say that QB would be that pick. Sanchez may end up being better than Stafford, but he really didn't have many great games during the season, his best being the Rose Bowl game, and that came on a big stage. He also posted great combine numbers but many in Detroit want that Bobby Layne connection in Mr Stafford. I think I would roll with either Curry or one of the top OT's. BTW, did anyone see the picture of Andre Smith running the 40 during his pro day? If not, try to find it on the web, he's ultra soft looking.
