I would hope a 21-0 record against 16th region teams, would make Coach Mays the front runner for the coach of the year. No disrespect to Coach Hampton(he evidently did an excellent job this year), but I'm just saying, an unbeaten record against any other team in the region, would seem to say something.

 

No disrespect to Coach Mays but I think my 15 year old could have coached these boys to an unbeaten record in the 16th. I'm not saying the region is that weak, just these boys are that good. It seemed to me like Ethan calls all of the plays, when they actually run a play, most of the time it's fast break points or long range bombs.

No disrespect to this comment, but a 2 year old could have probably have made such a comment. It's easy to say that someone could have coached this team to this year's championship, but why do you think these boys are this good? Because of the team's hard work? NO DOUBT. Because of the assistant coaches hard work? YES Because the parents of the players have gave so much of their time? ABOSUTELY! Coach Mays was the person that has done the most work, so don't try to discredit him. There are a lot of people that deserve credit in Elliott's success, but there is one person that has been here for 28 years building this program to success. You figure out who it is.

If you were from Lewis County you wouldn't love him anymore. I'm sure it was a mistake but how do you make a mistake like that in a regional championship. Here we are getting ready to enjoy our first ever championship game and this clown announces us as Bath County, and he didn't even get the district right we were the 63rd District Champions.

 

No doubt. He should have been a little more prepared tonight and I'm sure he's embarressed with the mistake.

I hate to disagree about the coach deserving COY honors on this. Not taking away from what he's done (or the players-Congrats to Elliott!), but he really hasn't done anything different than what he's done since those boys have been in there, so to award him for consistency doesn't make much sense. There's much more appropriate COY candidates out there (insert shameless plug for Justin Moore right here). I'm still waiting for someone else to point out who else has had a 13 game turnaround in the 16th with no players on the starting five that were even close to being top 10 in the region, probably not top 20. Just sayin'....

Congrats to Elliott County, you are truly by far the best team in the 16th region. The one thing I wanted to say is it was a very classless act by the PA announcer at the beginning of the game to announce Elliott County would be playing the winners of the 61st district Bath County. How in the world could you be qualified to announce a game and not know who was playing. This was totally disrespectful to the players and the fans of Lewis County.

 

I heard that as well over the radio broadcast, they put their "mics" on the PA man for the starting lineups. Wait!! That wasn't B. Hicks on the PA was it......:scared::lol:.

The guy even slipped again when introducing the individual players for LC and has said (when calling out one starter) "and now for Elliot,...uh, I mean Lewis County guard....(I forgot the kids name that he was calling) but that was bad as well to introduce a Lewis player and an Elliot player.

Lets just say the guy had a bad night, the radio (WLGC) made quick reference/jokle about it and didn't say anything else. I was embarrassed for the PA man on the obvious blunders and cannot see how he did it, especially again right after announcing Lewis as Bath Co. he screwed up on the individual player. I was really more embarrased for the Lewis kids and fans.

I don't know where this is coming from because I was at ever game and I did not see any EC players doing anything out of the ordinary. Why can't we let them enjoy there accomplishment without trying to demeanor them with stupid accusations. And they played Anderson County at Mongomery County.
