Yes, I watched it a few times. One of the early Japanese animated shows; circa 1960s as I recall.

 

Similar to Gigantor from about the same time.

Yes! It was actually a live action show dubbed in English. I used to take an empty thermometer case and pretend it was that little wand he used to become Ultraman.

Ultra man was the best. Used to watch Presto the clown, Ultra man, Spider man, and Speed racer. The neighborhood shut down from 3:00-5:00.

Absolutely loved Mr. Cartoon I think every kid from our area either was or wanted to be on that show. Does anyone know who Beeper really was?:idunno:

 

It was several people over the years, but for the majority of the years of the show Beeper was Jule's son.

 

 

Now - go attend the church or synagogue of your choice this Sunday and don't forget to bring your parents along.

Do any of these type (local) kid's shows still exist? I'm guessing not. I just don't get to see much daytime programming anymore. Had to jump in and join the work force about 23 years ago.

Local programming of all kinds is pretty much extinct now.

Howdy, howdy boys and girls it's T-bar-V Ranch Time. We're gald to see you all today and hope you're feeling fine.

 

We'll sing a song and have a show and a birthday party too, It's T-bar-V ranch time.

 

Anyone who grew up in Louisville in the 50's 60's or early 70's should remember that opening song.

 

Also as a tween I remember watching Presto the Magic Clown but I would not admit that at school as it was very uncool to admit watching it but most kids did. After all there were only 4 stations at the time and the other three ran soaps at that time slot.

One of the most popular in our area was "Mr. Cartoon".

Yep, Mr. Cartoon. He was on for many years.

I remember the "Happy and Froggy" show on WTVQ in Lexington. Happy was a clown and Froggy was a frog puppet. The show's director was a guy named Rick. Whenever they would show a cartoon, they would say, "Roll it Ranger Rick."

 

I also remember the afternoon Christmas-time local shows with a Santa Claus reading kids letters and showing cartoons.

 

I remember this show when I was younger. Used to watch it too.

 

That's a fur piece, you may remeber what happened after that line was thrown out.

I loved Mr. Cartoon (was on the show twice)....interesting side note Beeper's costume was actually a combination of all the old Banana Splits' costumes. I think KIng's Island had given the costumes to Camden Park and WSAZ ended up with them.

For me it was Uncle Al.

Oh, I forgot Larry Smith's Puppets and the Cool Ghoul!

 

OMG! The Cool Ghoul scarred me for life! ABSOLUTELY CREEPY. I just spent the last 15 minutes trying to remember his name. Thanks. BTW, what happened to the "creepy" smilie?

 

Also, from my experience, plus from word of mouth, Uncle Al hated children.
