March 6, 200917 yr Mr. Cartoon for me. Mon-Fri 4pm. I couldn't wait to get home from school and turn on WSAZ. His sidekick, Beeper, was cool. My only problem with the show was I couldn't understand how Mr. Cartoon and the weather man, Jules Huffman, looked so much alike. You know now that you mention it they did look alike. :lol::lol::lol::lol:

March 7, 200917 yr Uncle Al and the Cool Ghoul were faves in my day. And while not a kids' show, I did regularly watch BPA King Of Bowling with my old man.

March 7, 200917 yr Absolutely loved Mr. Cartoon I think every kid from our area either was or wanted to be on that show. Does anyone know who Beeper really was?:idunno:
March 7, 200917 yr Author One thing I remember about these kids' shows in the 60s is that they were big on what were called "Muscular Dystrophy carnivals." Children were encouraged to raise money for MD by having little neighborhood fairs/carnivals; and if you had one, your name would be announced on ths show, along with how much money you raised.
March 7, 200917 yr I remember the "Happy and Froggy" show on WTVQ in Lexington. Happy was a clown and Froggy was a frog puppet. The show's director was a guy named Rick. Whenever they would show a cartoon, they would say, "Roll it Ranger Rick." I also remember the afternoon Christmas-time local shows with a Santa Claus reading kids letters and showing cartoons.
