Owen County 57 Grant County 56 (OT)

Featured Replies

Great effort by both squads. Both came ready to play defense tonight. Thought Gambles two treys to end the first half were huge. Grant came out in second half and played fantastic "d"...but couldn't get the offense going til the 4th quarter.

Owen kept Grant in it by missing a TON of free throws...especially in the fourth quarter and in OT. Very uncharacteristic of them, I think.

Kudos to Grant's Kody Thompson who played a whale of a second half and overtime. He single handedly picked the Braves up and put them on his back in the second half! Sad to see him end his career this way...but it's been great to watch him play.

Good luck to the Rebels in Monday's semi-finals. Don't know who you may be playing...but I'd be practicing those free throws in the mean time!!

Great game by both squads, but the free throw shooting will come back and get you at some point. Good luck Owen.

Owen needs to knock down the free throws, but other than that I thought they played a heck of a game. rebounding in the final minute of the half and OT really wont the game for them. I thought Colligan really won the game for them down the stratch and Marson (sp?) hit two very clutch free throws to seal the deal.

Those 31st District schools flat out love to play close games!

I guess at $6.00 a piece they wanted us to get our money's worth.

Grant played terrible the first half. Then at 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter when they're down by 10 they realize they're gonna lose and they actually start playing with heart and emotion and make it go into overtime. Sad to see the Braves end their season like this to a team they should of beat. It's been fun wathing Kody Thompson, who has had a wonderful high school career, Caleb Kinmon, which he has improved alot this past year and stepped up on numerous ocastions, Jarred Livingood, who handled the ball well, and Sean Henry as well.

Good luck to The Braves next year and Good luck to Owen County.

Owen missed numerous free throws to seal the game but in the end they were the tougher team and at this point of the season any team will take the win no matter how close it was.

Don't know about the "tougher" portion. Both teams played their hearts out. And Owen nearly "choked" by missing all those free throws. But, yes, a win is a win at this time of year.

I heard Gamble didn't even have a field goal through the second half and OT!

That is correct, Gamble only took two shots and both of them where contested.

Owen went 16-30 from the free throw line in the game. Most of those in the 2nd half. Gotta improve especially 4th quarter and beyond!!

Owens free throw shooting has been terrible in the 5 or 6 games I have watched them. I bet Grant wishes they had 16 attempts from the line for the game. (not sure what they had but I bet it was not as many as Owen made). Good luck to Owen in the rest of the tournament! Good luck to Grant in future seasons!

Actually, Owen was 16 of 34 from the line for 47.1%.

I had a substitute statistician doing Grant's stats, but he had them as 17 of 23 (73.9%)

Grant's offense was nowhere to be found until finally getting going midway through the fourth. Where was Cody Kinmon? Injured/sick?

Gamble did not have a FG in the second half, missing all three of his three point attempts in the 2H.

Colligan had just 2 at the half and a rebound or two...finished with 11 points and (unofficially) 7 rebounds.

Unofficially, we had Shelton with four blocks, to go with 10 rebounds.

Marston won it at the line with two FTs with 10 seconds left in OT.

Scoring:

Owen County 7 15 11 14 10 - 57

Grant County 8 8 7 24 9 - 56

Owen - Gamble 16, Marston 14, Colligan 11, Jordan Shelton 5, Traylor 5, Lewis 4, Williams 2

Grant - Thompson 19, Livingood 9, Caleb Kinmon 8, Wartman 8, Loomis 5, Davis 4
