I think Kris is as well. I've been saying this to my family the past couple weeks. At this point, it doesn't REALLY matter if you win American Idol, because you will get a record deal and you will be given the opportunity to make it big. Now, it's just "cool" if you walk away with the title "American Idol", but I don't think it's a necessity, especially with how talented this top 4 was this season.

 

Actually, I think it helped Daughtry not to win it even though many thought he was the best singer that season. By not winning, it left him some legitimacy with some rock and roll fans who would never have bought an album from someone who won Idol. Sounds strange, but I have several friends who feel that way. Also, by not winning, I think you have more control over what you recorda and release as opposed to being controlled by the AI machine. I think you see the difference very pointedly in Daughtry's album and David Cook's album.

I agree. Unless you are the pop type that fits in with AI's style, it is better off to not win. Really, the only winners that have gained enormous success have been Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Everyone else has done so-so, or have disappeared with the exception of David Cook, because it's too early to tell; however, there have been several non-winners to do well like Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Josh Gracin, etc.

Agreed. In many ways, coming in second is probably better than winning it all.

I think Adam would do good in Vegas as an Elvis impersonator.

I would like to see the final 4 have to do something a lot different than they do now. I would like to see them perform an original song, something they have written. I know that not all singers are good songwriters, but I would love to see how they would compose an original song and what they would sing about. I would guess that many singers have tried their hand at writing, but for me, I would like to see/hear how they do. Let's see what kind of artist they really want to be.

I still think Kris will win due to picking up Danny's votes but Adam is the best performer AI has ever had. Hands down.

 

Kris' version of "Aint No Sunshine" is superb.

As far as making a song "your own", Adam is the best AI has ever seen. Very creative, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him this season. Kris didn't have his best night tonight, but I think the vote will be VERY close.

I hope Kris wins because he's the underdog and more the type of artist I would listen to. However, his last song was pretty bad and something you might expect in Hollywood week.

Last week there was Katy Perry’s cape that had Adam’s name on it and this week a song co-written by one of the judges that was clearly out of Kris’s range. Could the last song been a subtle form of sabotage by the producers/judges? Do they want Adam to win that bad because he is more unique and probably more marketable then Kris?

Kris could have changed the key if he wanted to. About a 1/2 step to a full step down and I think his performance of the song would have been much better than Adam's, as Kris' version actually showed the melody.

 

However, I didn't like the song. I know she has written a ton of hit songs, but I don't see that being one of them no matter who sings it. Nice message, but not a good song IMHO.

I do believe Simon will be crushed if Adam doesn't win. However, I don't subscribe to any conspiracy.

 

Regarding the song written by the judge, I'm no music expert but I would think Kris could have had the band bring the arrangement down to his range.
