Bishop Brossart 53 Campbell County 46

Now that Campbell is out of the region, is it to late to return the 10th Regional Tournament back to its rightful home at the Mason County Fieldhouse so it can again be the best Regional Tournament in the State of Kentucky? How about it MUSTANG!!!!!!!! By the way Congrats on a nice win and see you in a week!!!!!:deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse:

Being an old schooler and having experienced so much great history at the Fieldhouse, I certainly have a soft spot in my heart for the "home of the 10th Region" and look forward to its return there in 2010.

I've already got my necktie in the wringer for being outspoken about holding the tournament there on a permanent basis and in this modern day, it's just not going to happen anymore. What is, is, and at this point I think that we need to give the BOKC a fair chance and see how it goes. We will all have a much clearer understanding following the 9th and 10th Region tournaments.

Right now, I'm totally thrilled to be back in it, were they to hold it at the Turners Club. With the broadcasting ban lifted, everyone who wishes to listen to any game in either tournament will be able to and our players will have the chance to play in a Division I type facility.

I interviewed Anthony Strong at halftime tonight and he spoke of some of the behind the scenes stuff that took place in order to bring the 10th Region Tournament to NoKy and allow our kids to experience this opportunity.

To the poster that still considers us 9th Region. We have been members of the 10th Region since 1996, have worked hard all of these years to be good citizens of the 10th, love the true appreciation of high school basketball that the 10th Region shares, and are extremely proud to be a part of its recent history.

Great night for the Mustangs. More about the game later.

Fantastic game. Great Atmosphere. Looking forward to a great rematch between Scott and Brossart on Friday!

Great night for our Mustangs, our seniors, our fans, and all of us who comprise Team (Mike) Code. The only downside is that Scott Code had to lose and that his seniors Petey, Patrick, and Ben couldn't have gone out on a happier note. Only one team finishes the season with a win, and ending your career is always a heart-breaking experience when that time comes.

I really feel that we have gotten better as the season progressed and were a whole different team than the one that got embarrassed here back on December 13th. Our defensive intensity has improved throughout the year, and tonight the Mustang press (Yes, we actually extended the defense beyond the 3-point arc) contributed to our success. Campbell County had a lot of adversity with Patrick in foul trouble and Petey re-tweaking his ankle. Brossart had guys in foul trouble as well, but managed to get by. Mitch Patterson did foul out late in the game after hitting four blue-chip free-throws.

I thought a major key was to win or at least compete in the first quarter. IF Campbell County established dominance and momentum early, I thought they would be tough to beat. Brosssart led 10-6 at one point and finished the first quarter on top 10-8. The Campbell County defense held the Stangs to only 5 points in the second quarter, but could only put up 9 of their own. 17-15 advantage Campbell County at halftime. Campbell County opened up a seven point lead at the 2:05 mark in the third period and appeared to be just another field-goal or two away from blowing the game open. Brossart cut the lead to 34-28 with eight minutes to play.

The turning point in the game may have come when Nerl fouled out, but the Camels still had a five point lead 40-35 at the 3:57 mark, when the Mustangs began to chip into the Camels lead. Mitch Patterson gave the Mustangs the lead 43-42 with a pair of free-throws at the 1:51 mark and the Stangs made the lead stand up by hitting what would end up being 15 consecutive free-throws, 8 by Jordan Armstrong, to hold the Camels at bay.

Jordan Smith nailed an off-balance three to cut the Stangs lead to 49-46 with 18 seconds to go but JArmy slammed the door shut with another pair of made free-throws sending the Mustangs to the 37th District Championship game on Friday night against Scott and on to the 10th Region Tournament.

Brady Jolley was nails tonight, scoring 21 points in carrying his Camels on his back for most of the contest. Jordan Smith is much improved from the early season and added 11. Ben Franzen, Petey Albrecht, and Patrick Nerl combined for only 12 points which was also a major factor in the Mustangs' win. On the other side of the ledger, Jacob Rieger turned in his usual blue-collar effort netting 19 points for the Stangs, and Jordan Armstrong added 13 including his 8 straight down the stretch. Brossart got great minutes tonight from Brian Wolfer and sophomore Travis Norton who complemented the regulars' performance.

Box Score: (UNOFFICIAL) BB: Patterson 0-0-4/4-4, Armstrong 1-1-8.8-13, Webb 2-1-0/0-7, Kremer 3-0-2/2-8, Rieger 3-2-7/12-19, Wolfer 1-0-0/0-2

Total BB: 10-4-21/26-53 18-8

CC: Jolly 7-1-4/6-21, Nerl 0-0-1/2-1, Geiman 1-0-0/2-2, Smith 1-3-0/2-11, Albrecht 4-0-1/1-9, BFranzen 1-0-0/1-2

Total CCo: 14-4-6/14-46 16-11

I would just like to say that our Bishop Brossart Mustangs left it all on the floor tonight. What a great win for this program. You know, just about every team we played this year was physically taller than us. But I can say this, that I dont think any of the teams had a bigger heart. Night in and night out we went up against odds and this Mustang team just never gave up. I am sooo proud to be a Mustang. Good luck Stangs. You all deserve the best. :ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper::thumb::thumb:

I also want to say great job to the Camels. What a great ballclub. It was such a great game. Good luck to Petey, Patrick and Ben. You guys were fun to watch and always brought the best out in your opponents. Good Luck Guys.:dancingpa

I never said that the teams that were moved from the 9th to the tenth region 13 years ago were considered 9th region teams. I think they have found a wonderful home in the 10th region. I believe you are a hall of famer in the 10th and understand your loyalty to the 10th and where games have "traditionally" been played.

What I meant was, it will be nice to stay near home, not put $40 of gas in the car, eat a little dinner-catch a regional game and be home at a decent hour. Good luck to all of the 9th and 10th regional qualifiers.

Gotcha! Thanks!

Congrats to the Mustangs on a great win!! And lets give it up for the clutch free throw shooting down the stretch by Kremer, Patterson, and Armstrong. The eight in a row by Armstrong was as clutch as it gets. The rest of the players also played very well in a true team victory.

To the Camels, congratulations on a fine year, and best of luck to the three seniors in their future endeavors. Your team is made up of high quality young men and great sportsmen. Your team is always a pleasure to watch.

I wish I could bring some posts back from some CCHS faithful who said two years ago when 07 graduated that CCHS would be on top for quite some time, and Brossart would be down for quite some time... I wish I could remember who. Looks like they weren't exactly right

So happy for these guys...

I hardly think that one win out of the last 4 meetings would indicate that Brossart is on top of Campbell especially due to the fact that Campbell completely pounded Brossart in 2 of those games. Very tough to beat the same team 3 times in one season especially when that team has a Coach like Mike Code leading them and when your team is led by a much less impressive leader.

Anyone who thought Campbell was going to be on top for quite some time was fooling themselves. Next year will be a down year due to the loss of the the Big 3 of Campbell and the rumors of the more talented juniors and sophomores not returning next year.

I would not write off next year quite yet. Jolly is back and some of the young guns will be very solid (Skinner, Griffin, McGovney). Also, look to have some of the football players back that did not play this year.

First of all, only this year is relevant. And I'd say Brossart is definitely once again back on top of CCHS once again...I'd say Brossart has now had a more successful season this year. Would you disagree?

This was Campbell's year to be very good... Rieger, Armstrong, Morscher, Norton, etc. returning next year will be a force in the district. Brossart has several very, very good classes coming up. While McGovney is a very, very good player, he's all alone in the incoming class...

I would not say all alone. Cory Barth has been playing well with the 8th grade team. There are a couple others in the class of 2013 and 2014 that will help out McGovney also.

The Camel cupboard is not bare. :thumb:

McGovney will only be a freshman, he might play JV, but i doubt he will be a big contributor for varsity his freshman year. He will be a stud when he does start playing varsity.

Campbell will have more seniors next year: Jolly, Smith, Geiman, Neises, and Wolf. They have some very talented underclassmen as well. Jolly and Smith will lead the way and IMO those two are top in the district. I wouldn't exactly put Brossart ahead of Campbell next year.

McGovney played freshman as an 8th grader. I think he could get some solid varsity minutes next year.
