Randy Parker Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 TO JODIE MEEKS: Go pro after this season. Get the money while you can. You can't possibly have a better season next year than you had this one. Thanks for the constant effort. TO PATRICK PATTERSON: While I don't think you're ready for the NBA, go anyway. If Meeks leaves, you better follow him. TO BILLY GILLISPIE: Why do you deserve to be our coach? What have you done to merit being the UK coach in the first place? You're stubborn. You embarrass the faithful with your idiotic halftime interviews. You seem to be more concerned with playing YOUR style, as opposed to making adjustments for a more WINNING style. And, you said concerning A.J. Stewart, that you needed a 6'9" bruiser, and not a 6'9" 2-guard. My response to that is, "We don't need anymore 6'7" wing players w/o scoring ability. We need 6'7" guys (or of any size) who can put the round, orange thing called a basketball inside the round orange thing called the basket. You have but one of those players. If all you're concerned about is winning, then why don't you do more of it? TO THE FAITHFUL: Few of you are realists. I'm as die-hard a fan as any, but I'm realistic about our team. I think with my head; not my heart. Ever since Chuck Hayes left, we've been an average/less-than-average team. Tubby's last two teams and BCG's first two teams have been some of the most frustrating to watch and follow. Tubby, while being a fine man, left us with a crapper of a program. Billy took over and is simply flushing the commode. Be prepared for this to get worse than it already is. There is nothing on the horizon indicating anything different.

I (being a bearcat fan) dislike UK very much (mainly the fans), but next year they will be a better team that could do some damage. Especially with the return of BOTH Meeks AND Patterson. They will get at least one solid recruit to step up next year and Galloway isn't looking too shabby IMO...
Original Rookie Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 You claim to be a realist and a guy who thinks with his head and not his heart, that's fine. To me, you see more pessimistic than realistic. I'd rather have fans who are a little (hence little) optimistic than have those like yourself who claim to be realistic and try to bring the others down for being crazy fans.

I am pessimistic about this team. I don't deny that at all. But I believe my pessimism is also reality. What is it about this team, and the program in general, that merits even just a little bit of optimism?

As far as Gillispie is concerned I don't understand everything he does and question a lot. But for the most part his players play hard. Thats a big deal to me. Right now we have 2 really good players and then a huge drop off. With this roster without Patterson, Meeks has to score 40 to beat a decent team. Next year we have a couple key additions that if Patterson and Meeks return we can be a top notch team.
mobaar Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I think the best advice for all involved would be to ignore the above "advice."
Randy Parker Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 I think the best advice for all involved would be to ignore the above "advice." Sounds good. Let's just close our eyes and cover our ears and hope it all goes away.
Log Mountain Boy Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Sounds good. Let's just close our eyes and cover our ears and hope it all goes away. Or we could be positive and not fire the coach and set us back another 2 or 3 years.
MountainThunder Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I think the best advice for all involved would be to ignore the above "advice." :thumb: I am down on BCG a little now, but what can we do but cheer for the Cats? We aren't on the floor or in the coaches box and our job as fans is to cheer. This 'the sky is falling' after 1 tough loss is not going to help anything. GO CATS!!! We heard the same 'whoa is us' when Brooks took over and they were in MUCH worse shape than the hoops program, ... at least we have some talent and if Meeks and Patterson come back, we only lose 1 senior (and he never plays).

Galloway has shown some very positive signs Miller is a freshman and is getting better Orton is coming next year Hark, ... a light at the end of the tunnel and I don't think it is an oncoming train!
Chosen_One Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 It could be a a lot worse. We could have lost to Georgia...
UKMustangFan Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 It could be a a lot worse. We could have lost to Georgia... Dude they lost to VMI....I'd say that's just a tad worse than Georgia, no?
Chosen_One Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 1st game of the season. I would rather lose to VMI than an SEC loss to Georgia. That loss meant nothing besides the bracket committee counting it as one of the worst losses. I do believe that VMI could beat Georgia...but I see your point!
