It's not really a bye, they just aren't playing a play-in game tonight because they expected to be in the conference finals tonight and unable to play. They have a first round game in the tournament bracket, just like all teams playing tonight. South Laurel, Wolfe County and Clay County are also placed in the bracket and not playing tonight.

Frankly KBA didn't have enough court space/time IMO to increase it above 30 games anyway. Good luck to everyone making the trip. 64 teams is amazing.

KBA said they would not change the schedule, not very fair if you ask me. The KBA has 64 teams to take care of not 1 or 2. It is hard to coordinate a tournament of this size. Tonights games are play-in games only anyway. Tomorrow is when the real tournament starts.

In my opinion, Elkhorn should have realized they would have most likely played tonight in the conference finals and asked to not play today. But, in all reality, tonight means very little if you have a team that can win it all. They will put you in the bracket whether you win or loss tonight and you have the same chance come tomorrow. Now, the marginal teams may benefit from a win tonight because they can stay away from the top teams in the first round or two tomorrow.
February 21, 200917 yr You mentioned it in another thread. These are 14-15 year olds, anything can happen from day-to-day. I truly wish my son's 8th grade team had 15 yr olds. :idunno: Im disappointed that Highlands didnt get in this tournament simply for the experience. They have their conference tourney this weekend and scheduling just didnt work out. Good luck to all the teams downstate. Twenhofel is very deep and has a good combination of an inside outside game with RAcke and Barnes. Hopefully they can represent NKY well as being the only team entered in that tourney. My pick and it is simply based on what I read is Lincoln County.
February 21, 200917 yr Twenhofel lost to Grant County, they play Clinton County who looked like the worst team in the tournament in the first half trailing Pineville 18-7. Clinton County played much better in the 2nd half winning 47-38. Langford and Dalton, 2 reserves, lead Clinton with 16 and 14.

I will agree with that Siemac. The times our boys put a body on him it frustrated him and Barnes is lights out but only if open. I have yet to see him shoot off the dribble or drive to the basket. I was actually more impressed with their ability to bring kid after kid off the bench who seemed to have nice basketball skills.

Agreed. The deep bench is their greatest strength and Tanner Norton gets overlooked in how good he can really be at times.
February 21, 200917 yr Does anyone know how Rosspoint Elementary out of Harlan County did? We weren't able to make the trip to cheer on the Wildcats and are hoping that they do well. They have a good group of kids and I hope they will "represent" while in Lexington.
