February 22, 200917 yr Author Best player in the tournament is Dominique Hawkins from Madison. Not really even that close, IMO. South Laurel beat Mayfield to get to the quarters, and Scott Co. in the quarterfinal. They have been tough to say the least. I have to say, I have found that the longer I am around this type of basketball atmosphere, the fans get worse and worse. And that's a shame. Should make for a good final four. Good luck to all the teams, they can be proud no matter how they finish from here.

Our boys faced his Richmond AAU club in the state tourney last year and he scored 35 of their 55 pts and he could get to the rim from half court in 4 steps I think. :eek:
February 22, 200917 yr Madison vs. South Laurel for the championship. Madison is a surprise only because coming into the tournament I didn't know Dominque Hawkins, who has been playing varsity and JV all year with Madison Central, was going to play this weekend.
February 22, 200917 yr Author Then I'll have to go with Dominique and his Madison boys. As far as playing with a schools varsity and JV, I know of more than just Dominique that have done that as well for this tournament.:thumb:

I didn't say there is anything wrong with it, I am just saying I would have regarded Madison more if I had known he was playing. I picked 6 of the Final 8 correct (except Madison and Clay County), 2 of the Final 4 and 1 of the 2 finalist. But, my champion is gone. So, I will take South Laurel to win it all.

I believe the Asher kid played for Clinton and we know about Hawkins. What other kids played this weekend that also have been playing freshman, JV and/or varsity?
February 22, 200917 yr Tyson Williams for McCreary County is one. Anyone know the score as of right now in the championship?? Just a note (and a little bit of sour grapes, lol), IMO you should NOT be allowed to bring in a kid to play in the state tournament who has not been playing with your team all year. It's just not fair to the kids on that team, nor to the teams they play against. But what is fair anymore?
