February 18, 200917 yr OK, I have had a chance to digest the brackets and here are my predictions: Final 16: Meece vs. LTMS LCA vs. Lincoln Clay County vs. Elkhorn Grayson County vs. Knox County Sebastian vs. Farnsley Hopkinsville vs. Eversole Mayfield vs. South Laurel Scott County vs. Southern (although I wanted to take Twenhofel here, I just don't know enough about them) NOTE: There are some great potential matchups in this round. Saturday night be a lot of fun at the KBA. Couple notes on 2nd round games: I think Harrison County will surprise some folks and give Lincoln County a run. They have the bigs to match up on the inside and if they get hot from the outside, anything can happen. (Note: Harrison plays Scott County tomorrow night with the winner advancing to the Bluegrass Conference finals Friday night. So, I am assuming Scott County wins that game in that prediction above. If Harrison wins, they will obviously have to forfeit their play in game. My Elkhorn assumption is they will be playing Scott County Friday night and will forfeit their play in game Friday). Wayne County-Clay County, Rosspoint-Scott County and Clinton County-Mayfield should all be good games. If Asher plays for Clinton County this weekend, that could change that prediction. Final 8: LTMS vs. Lincoln Elkhorn vs. Knox County Sebastian vs. Eversole (this bracket is by far the weakest in my opinion) South Laurel vs. Scott County Final 4: LTMS vs. Knox County Sebastian vs. South Laurel Note: If the Final 8 ended up that way, the Final 4 could very easily be Lincoln vs. Elkhorn, Eversole vs. Scott County. Championship Knox County over South Laurel In case anybody's wondering, I am usually in the bottom of the NCAA pools I play, so please don't take any of these to the bank. I definitely hope I am wrong beginning with the Final 8. Go Scott County!

Well, if Southern is not very good (and I really wasn't sure -- Scott County beat them by about 35 last year as 7th graders) then I would go back to Twenhofel in that bracket in my prediction above.

Frankly I was surprised at the losing to Lincoln's 7th (assuming we're talking about the same Southern) because the game I watched them they shot the lights out behind the arc and put up 60+.

You mentioned it in another thread. These are 14-15 year olds, anything can happen from day-to-day.

Mason County is playing, but I don't think their 8th grade can compete. I have them losing to Southern on Friday night, then to Mayfield in the tournament bracket. From what's been said about Mayfield, I would say the loser of Southern-Mason County will be gone early.
February 20, 200917 yr Scott County and Elkhorn will meet tonight in the 8th grade Bluegrass Conference finals (Scott County plays Royal Spring in 7th grade finals), which means Harrison County (SC beat HC by 19 last night) will be there at the KBA. Also, I heard the KBA told Elkhorn if they didn't play today that they wouldn't be allowed to play the rest of the tournament, so Elkhorn is sending their 7th grade team tonight. 8th grade will be back tomorrow, so if you are watching tonight, ignore what you see from Elkhorn.
