Dadof3 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 What the Guru wants, the Guru gets...the Bulls rolled over the Flight tonight out at SOAS by a score of 54-33. The Bulls now sit at 3-0 and have a double header next week against the other Bulls and the Indians.
HOOPSCOACH Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 At the BCI the SW Indiana team won the U12 tourney. They had a pretty nice squad, I believe they where from New Albany Indy. In the U9 group the Tarheels beat Jackson County by a few points. In the U10 the Cincy Knights defeated the NK Wildcats by 4 or 6, something like that. Game was a battle to the end. To bad all the good refs had gone home when these two played. To young refs, let the Knights coaches scare them. They wouldn't make some of the calls that needed to be made. Dave had to be pleased this weekend, he had some great crowds this weekend.
Rush2112 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Wolfpack U12 lost to the Ville by 4pts in the Mid America finals in Louisville, KY. Was a 2pt game with 30 seconds to go in the 2nd half...Wolfpack had to foul. Stanley and Moeves played very well in the finals.
Slemac90 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The place to be for Kentucky AAU basketball this past weekend, especially at the U12 and U13 level was MidAmerica Sports Center in Louisville. Hopefully Rainman or Black 10 can give a full recap. It was very impressive to see the size of U13 KY Elite. In a tournament that most thought the Louisville Legends would win hands down, the KY Elite and Missouri/Illinois Elite (Arkansas Mustangs) stole the show. I am still shocked that the KY Elite lost in the championship. I wish I would have stayed for that one! It will be a fun filled 2 months on the way to the AAU state tournament in April!:dancingpa
katbird Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Omega Rhinos u11 lost in semis to Cincy Knights by 4.. Omega didn't play well at all. In the finals the NKY Suns beat the Knights by 9...Overall a very good weekend of basketball at Sports Plus. I believe the Truth u13 beat the Dayton Heat in the finals by a couple also.. Two very good teams..

Cincy, Indy and BCI this weekend and won all three tournaments...

I think the Tarheels have better players than Jackson Co. The Pike kid needs to like he does with the Wolfpack. Looked a little lost at times yesterday.

But, MO-ILL Elite sat back in a 2-3 zone and KY Elite (without ever practicing) struggled against it. Early they got what they wanted, but missed a lot of open looks. Still, after trailing 12-2 early, KY Elite took a 17-15 lead in the 3rd quarter, but gave up seven in a row. It was 28-27 when KY Elite had to start fouling. Give all the credit the MO-ILL Elite in the finals. Plus, I think they came into the first game thinking they would handled KY Elite and the opposite happened. So, it was also a wakeup call for them. Both teams, along with a lot of other top teams in the nation, will be in St. Louis in mid-March. I never did get to see the Legends play during the weekend, but it is definitely too early to crown anybody in the 13U division as the champion. The Tarheels/Truth (not sure what they are calling themselves) will have a lot to say. The team I was impressed with was the KY Gators. I know they beat the Wolfpack early Sunday, then they gave KY Elite a decent game in the semis (a lot of missed FT's by KY Elite kept it closer than the 14-point final score). I know I saw on the message boards earlier that the KY Gators would be playing D2. I hope that is not true. They can definitely compete in D1. They lost by 10 on Saturday to Legends. Not sure where most of the teams will end up, but the Gators, Wolfpack, Johnson County, Albany Bulldogs, Hoop Dreams and Fleming County (I am sure I forgot somebody) are all a notch below the top 3 but all good teams.

I know the games have to be played first, but I just don't see anybody in KY being able to match KY Elite's size. When you have Portwood at the 3 (and he was running up and down the floor and knocking down some shots), there just isn't a team I know of in KY that can handle 2 more BIGs (6' 7" and 6' 5") on a team. As well, there is still Green and Grundy who are 6'+. The Gators addition of the 3 Bigs they added make them a stronger team. Last year the Wolfpack easily handled the Gators by 15 and probably thought it would be a gimme game. They worked their butts off and took it to the Wolfpack on Sunday morning. As I said before, it will be an interesting 2 months to the U13 state championship.
Qryche11 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Where is this KY Gators team from and who are some of their studs?
Slemac90 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Where is this KY Gators team from and who are some of their studs? Louisville, I believe. I have no idea who the players are:confused:. Maybe Rainman can help out with that.
Rainman11 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Louisville, I believe. I have no idea who the players are:confused:. Maybe Rainman can help out with that. Nope. Yesterday was the first time I had seen them play, so I have no idea of any names. But, I think they are from the Radcliff area. Somebody told me the kids would end up at North Hardin High School.
southernkyhoops Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 The Gators are from Louisville, they used to be the Highview Heat. They played as the Gators last season. They have played together about 4 years. They may have a pickup player from Etown but almost all of them are from Louisville. They should have a very nice team, I haven't seen them yet this season.
