The Country Gentlemen when Charlie Waller was their lead singer is probably my all time favorite Bluegrass band.

The Seldom Scene with John Duffy would be a close 2nd. Love the "Live at the Cellar Door" album.

Larry Sparks for me...

Here is one of my favorite Seldom Scene songs ever. They really had a lot of range and this non-traditional Bluegrass song shows it off.

 

Their musical and vocal talent is really extraordinary. Tom Auldridge (sp) is fantastic on the dobro in this one.

Never listened to it but a guy that I work with is in to it big time. His wife heads up a bluegrass radio show every sunday out of Walton. Not sure of the name of the station though.

They're not really Bluegrass, though. I would liken them more to old-timey traditional country the same way as Gillian Welch is.

The newer stuff I like a lot.

 

The older stuff, I really like the instumentals but not so much the vocals.

My nephew, 17 year old Tyler Mullins, is Larry's banjo player. Great kid and just started a full ride at Morehead University.
