Whew let me start by saying congrats to the Lions you just simply played harder than Mason in the 2nd half.Went down hill for the Royals when they went to the small lineup all at once for a while.We have to get some type of road built though my goodness that drive will make you sick its so curvy and hilly,I respect those folks out there but no way would i drive that everyday.Royals lets get it together and come out strong Friday night against Harrison.Elliott i hope to see you again in Rupp which i am sure you will get there,Goodluck on the rest of your season.

Congratulations to Elliott Co! Thats a huge win for them over a (at th least IMO) top 15 team and probably a top 10 team in the state.

Congrats to Elliott County. They finally have a win against a ranked team in Kentucky. I still don't see them in the Top 5 unless they beat Ballard and then Shelby Valley should still be ahead of them.

According to some members in the Holmes thread, if you have a bad night and loose, you shouldn't be moved out of the top 5. So, maybe Elliott's lose to Shelby Valley was one of those "Mulligan" games.:popcorn:

I'm just trying to play the role of the typical NKY fan. Someone has to do it......nah, I was just joking around. Here are my thoughts....

 

Personally, I think a few things. First of all, every team has an off night- EC or Holmes. Secondly, Boone and SV were underrated. Thirdly, I don't know about SV, but I do find Boone to be inconsistent. Lastly, it is always best to look at the matchups between individual teams.

 

Now what that means in terms of rankings, who knows? Do you rank teams based on W's and L's? It is objective but sometimes off. Do we rank of matchups? Personally, I feel like on a website like this, we should rank based on who we think would win each individual game. Some of us are bound to be wrong, but it doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Likewise, W's and L's don't matter- that is why they play the games!

 

Now how that is relevant to the whole discussion......who knows

I'll state mine ... because the list of teams that Holmes has beaten is much more impressive (and much deeper) than Elliott County's list. Holmes has been tested much more often against quality competition.

I can agree that Holmes has played a tougher schedule, but the point was: should Elliott County be penalized because of the Shelby Valley lose, even after beating Mason County. I don't think so, because like the Holmes fans are saying, anyone can have an off night, and I don't remember the shooting percentage, but Elliott definitely had a bad night against Shelby Valley and when they lost to the team in the BBC.

First of all, not sure if you are referring to me, but I am hardly a "Holmes fan".

 

Anyways, yes, every team should have a "mulligan". I think for discussion's sake on a site like this, we should focus more on matchups then past record. Of course it factors in but sometimes a team has another's number or a team has an off night. Ryle convincingly beat Conner who convincingly beat Highlands who convincingly beat Boone who just beat Holmes. What's it mean? Nothing. It's all about the matchups.

I agree with all those points, but what I am saying is, if Holmes was number one (which Scott Countys should be number one in any poll), and Elliott County was number three, should either team be penalized for the most recent looses? In other words, should one move up and the other move down? Should they both move up? Should they both move down?
