I think that the reality of both situations is that we are BOTH expressing our opinions. You can't prove yours any better than I can prove mine.

 

As far as being biased ... maybe. But I think that there is a lot more negative conversation (which is starting to show in a public forum) about the kingdom that is "the school from Union" ... than what those people want to hear about. The reality is ... most of the those people are NOT perfect .. but CLAIM to be.

 

From MY point of view--it isn't any different than any other school. There are some really bad things that happen .. and there are some real bad things that are made up.

 

I do find it amusing that you would even begin to suggest that I am making "nebulous claims" ..... my claims aren't any worse than yours--where you automatically assume that the AD is going to handle things the right way. Which again .. is interesting ... because I was very clear that the 2 reasons why he would get involved would mean that it usually isn't him making the first step in the investigative process. (which means--it isn't a character flaw of the AD-- it is a character flaw of the process).

 

From a personal perspective ... I will say this ... the way that past coaches have been treated at Ryle leaves a lot to be desired from my point of view. That is where my axe is grinding. Certain people are brandished about as if they are really doing great things .. but the reality is that it isn't always the truth.

 

For the record .. the schools that I am aligned with get MUCH more scrutinty than Ryle ever has or ever will .... is it justified? Some is and some isn't. Just like in this case. In the end .. we still walk away here with your opinion and mine ... which isn't so bad. I am just not real sure that the people of Ryle are going to learn anything if they keep pretending that things are perfect.

And while neither of us may have personal insight into this particular girl's bball situation, I do at least have some personal insight in the character of the AD. You, on the other hand, are basically an uninformed outsider casting stones at a school with whom you admittedly have an axe to grind and justify your smear campaign against the "kingdom in Union" (classy ) because you can find a half-dozen anonymous BGP posters to do the same. Even if this situation turns out to be true, it hardly makes us the evil empire you claim. But by all means, please continue to enlighten us clueless, arrogant people at Ryle that delude ourselves as being perfect.

I dont think anyone is disputing that 8th and 9th graders should play if they are good enough. The problems are much bigger. You can not teach kids that is okay to cheat. You can not play someone because of their age. Best kids should play regardless of class. Ryle has some very talented young players. In my opinion the AD knows what is going on. The entire Region knows. It will surface soon.

I see that the players that they have are comitted to winning and doing the hard work it takes to win. They have battled through a lot of injuries and personal issues to be a very competitive team. I applaud the coaching staff to allow the younger girls who have shown they can play at a varsity level to play. I am sure they have heard the typical rumblings from parents who feel that their child isn't recieving enough playing time but that is a part of team sports. Anyone remember Doug Schlomer? Started for Holmes in the mid 70's as an 8th grader. Never heard the Holmes fans complaining.

 

Schloemer never started for Holmes as a 8th grader because he didn't attend Holmes until he was freshman. He attended St. Anthony's in Taylor Mill thru 8th grade.

I am corrected. the point was that there have been numerous 8th and 9th graders who have made substantial contributions to their teams over the years without the fuss that is being heaped on the Lady Raiders. I enjoy watching them as well as many teams from our area.

I will agree with you that it shouldn't matter what grade a player is in. It shouldn't really matter where they live either.

I know it's a rule, but it doesn't matter to me where a kid lives. I say let the kids play wherever they want. I guess I am in the minority on this one.

Remember Scott Draud and Rich Maile? I don't think they lived within a stones throw of Ft. Thomas. But, that's in the past, I really don't want to see things go back to those days. How many great players were lost to Moeller and St X?

If anyone has proof of wrongdoing please report it to the Boone County Board of Education and not rehash it here again.

 

Also, we want this to be a free and open forum but saying things like a player (that is an early teen) has too much baggage is overboard and not something we want to see in the future on BGP.
