Mitch had to feel good to see that response when he came into the game from both student sections and really the whole gym. I know it's been tough for the kid and hopefully he can re-gain some strength and get back out there.

That is a stunner, honestly I was expecting HC to pull this one of. With a win vs Beechwood in districts Cov Cath can sneak into the regions, obviously neither one of these teams wanted to play Holmes in first round, but either can beat Beechwood on a good night, both of them played them well in the first meeting.

 

We should preface every 9th region thread with a poll about whether or not it will turn into a Holmes thread. Congrats ETA you've done it again.

Giwa torched Cov Cath for 3 easy layups early on but then Holy Cross went away from him until the 4th quarter. The Indians only had 10 pts at the half. Giwa went to the bench late in the first quarter with only 1 foul and sat for a good chunck of the 2nd quarter. Couldn't figure that one out. Luke seemed way out of synch tonight and made several unforced errors on offense. He also missed a bunch of free throws. It was great to see Shover on the court. Wellbrock was a monster on the boards. Holy Cross made a great run after being down double digits to tie the game in the 4th quarter. Ives came down and hit a clutch 3 and the Indians never caught back up. Good win for the Colonels.

Glad to head Mitch got a nice ovation. The kid definetly deserves it. He has been through a lot this year and it shows a lot of his character and dedication to still be battling out there on the court.

I think CCH missed 7 FTs in a row at one point.

Ives is the best player on the CCH team IMO..he is very underrated. Doesn't force shots, plays hard, and has a very high basketball I.Q.

Ives can be the best offensive player. It just depends on which day it is. He's talented enough to get open looks. Great at getting to the rim by using the jump stop. He's just been inconsistent with his outside shot. Tonight he shot very well hitting some long, tough 3s.

 

If Mitch can get back to 75% by the BW game it will be a barnburner. If Mitch can draw attention Ives gets a whole lot better as does the entire offense. It would also allow Maile to get back inside on the post and open up the outside for Mitch and Ives.

 

We'll see.

I kept a close eye on Mitch through warmups and halftime and it doesn't look like he's lost anything from his jumpshot. He can still stroke. If nothing else putting another shooter on the floor would be a huuuuuge boost to this team.

I agree. If Mitch can get back on the floor for even 10-15 minutes, it would open things up A LOT for Ives. I've always been most impressed with him when I've seen the Colonels play. I think you'd see him a lot more consistent from outside with another shooting threat in the lineup with him.

I like Joey Allen and Rob Broering. Rob is a great shooter. Hit the three at the buzzer tonight and at the end of the Holmes game.
