Little Ram said it went well, I will be there this evening to see for myself.

I was told we had 70 kids at the skill camp yesterday. Sounds like a lot of kids want to be the next Robby Logan, John-Scott Carver, Brett Denton, or Tyler Boyles.

Lil Sidelinedoc is in Vacation Bible School and had to miss the Skills camp this year. I heard from the coaches they were pleased with the turn out.

Glad to hear the skills camp went well! Should be a promising future for the rams!!

 

How are they running practices right now? When I played we were running two-a-days in full pads at this time of the year. But things have changed since then with new rules in place and such.

Can't be in pads until August 1st, I believe.

Bylaw 25. Limitation of Seasons

 

Sec. 5) Sports Specific Limitations -

Football - Boys

(1) Organized non-contact practice shall not begin prior to

July 15. During this non-contact period, a helmet,

 

shoulder pads and shoes are the only football

 

equipment that may be worn.

The first date of practice in

full pads shall be the earlier of seven (7) week days (not

counting Saturdays and Sundays) prior to the opening

 

day of school (which shall defined as the day prior to the

classes starting for the student body) or August 1 but

under no circumstances shall be prior to the fourth

Friday before the first regular season playing date. After

contact practice (practice in pads) has begun and prior

to the first day of classes for the students, no school

may conduct multiple on-field practice sessions in pads

(e.g., two-a-days or three-a-days) on consecutive days

(e.g., two-one two-one format). After the opening dayl of

the school year, no school may conduct multiple on-field

practice sessions in pads (e.g., two-a-days or three-adays)

on a day in which school is in session. All schools

shall submit all required documentation to verify the

proper execution of the practice regulations, including

scrimmage, contact, and heat/safety regulations.

That is great!! The youth camps/JFL is where it all starts. Raceland has always had fantastic youth programs and it has certainly shown through the years.

The youth camp went great, there were at least 70 kids there tonight. There are some good players entering the Jr High this year, and many of them have grown and matured quit a bit. We now have 28 8th graders playing and 29 7th graders playing, we just bought 60 new jerseys and we are about out, that is a great problem to have. I look for the Jr High team to have a very good season.

 

The younger kids looked great as well, some fine looking young players, and a lot of them.

 

The coaches did a great job of teaching, this was not just a show up and play kind of camp, there was teaching of football. The varsity coaches know which side of their bread is buttered, and they are doing a good job of making sure there is plenty of bread to go around.
