I'm from McKell County and we cruised Portsmouth and went to C.A.Y dances at Portsmouth Notre Dame. Our green cards were not accepted this far East.:lol:

Any news on the travel plans for passing camp July 10-12? I know it is at Campbellsville University but I didn't know how many we had going and how they were getting there.

I remember cruising the Bluegrass in the early and mid 70's (when it was actually crowded) on Friday and Saturday nights. There was the usual traffic jam between the Bluegrass and the Winchester ave. McDonalds. As high school kids usually short on cash, one common practice was to get your food and McDonalds then go to the Bluegrass to park and eat it. We would order a coke or something from the Blugrass to keep from getting kicked out of the lot,lol. When the rare occasion came up that we had extra, there was noithing likea "flying saucer", "rings" and "strawberry pie" from the Bluegrass.

 

Ahhh, back in the day :lol: I wish the Bluegrass was still there, that was a true piece of "Americana" and alot of our youth.

 

I started school at Morehead in 1973, a transplant from Maryland. I rarely got home, so I made some friends and spent a lot of weekends in a lot of Eastern Kentucky communities.

 

One of my first trips was to Vanceburg. When I asked the friend I went home with what we were going to do on a Friday night, he told me that we were going to "cruise the Bridge Boy."

 

Which elicited two questions from me - what's cruising, and what's a Bridge Boy.

Mcpapa, I grew up in South Shore and this story is hilarious to me. I am 41 and don't recall it from my own experience but know those who did and they are some funny stories.
