That's too bad for Raceland. It's a great winter sport - and excelent conditioning.

I believe the middle school coaches are having to order more equipment and jerseys. This is a great problem to have.

With graduation tonight, just one last reflection on the 2008-09 football senior class. What a ride!!!! I have been around a lot of football in my day but this class is special. I realize that many will focus on the wins and accomplishments but I am looking at their character and intelligence. I can't wait until college is finished and we see what these young men will become. I know that currently we have one wanting to be a pharmacist, a chiropractor and one for sports management. I know of one that is leaning towards a career in the Air Force. I just know that they are a close knit group that continues to be close even after the season ended in late November. I will miss this group terribly and am still sad at the thought of them not being at team camp, Down and Dirty and not being at the house for Senior dinner on Thursday nights. There is something unique and special about all 11 senior players that will stand out in my mind for years to come. They became like children to me and they continue to call, stop by the house or even drop in the office just to say hello. I am going to miss each and every one of them and hold them and their families in my heart. Thank you to Bret, Robby, John-Scott, Tyler, Tate, Brian, Thomas, Cody, Kory, Alex and

Todd for all the great memories and the Friday night excitement you gave us. Tonight will be bittersweet, the end of high school for these guys but the beginning of very promising lives and careers. Good luck and God bless!!! You are all very loved and very appreciated.

ASBSOLUTELY GREAT POST!! Thanks for postng doc, I 100% agree, I have been very close to and watched Raceland football since the very early 70's. Although there were many special teams imo there is just something about the 08' Ram "band of brothers" that set them apart. Very good football players ad special group of kids on and more impotantly off the field! They ave set the bar higher in RamLand, that is for sure!

Here comes the 09' edition ORANGE CRUSH!!!!!

Rams 7 on 7 at Cole Grove, OH Wednesday June 10th.

The Coal Grove passing camp will be at 1pm.

 

Saturday June 13th is the car wash at Sergent's Tires and at Advanced Auto in Greenup.

Congrats to Sebastian on being selected to the All-Area Track team (see Track post). Sebastian had the State's longest recorded 1A shot put distance this year but was unable to throw at State due to a conflict with his flight back to Sweden.

 

During his brief time at Raceland he was part of a 12-1 Football team, State Championship weightlifting team, Regional Track Championship, State's best 1A shot-put (Could have been a medalist!!!!!!!). Not bad for a foreign exchange student from Sweden.

Word is that Mason Rister did pretty well at a football camp at OU. There were 300 campers with 15 being QBs. Mason was in the top 3 with the QB from Massillon and Warren Harding. The Massillon QB is going to sign with Cincinnati and was the best QB at camp and the other 2 were close for #2. He is leaving after practice today for a skills camp at Youngstown State. That is the kind of work ethic we have to get into these young boys!
