I give Ben his props. Statistically he's average. He does play for an organization that has 6 Championships. What if the Bengals had Ben & Steelers had Carson?

The defense is amazing and Ben is perfect for their system. Is he as good as Brady or Manning? Nope. That makes him not elite in my book. I would also take a healthy Carson Palmer (if there is such a thing anymore) over him.

The running game was sub-par at best this year, and some might call it awful. The O-line was not good as well (although it got much better the last 1/3 of the season). The defense failed for one of the few times this season, surrendering the late lead and necessitating heroics from Roethlisberger to pull out the SB win.

 

As much as Bengals fans hate to concede anything positive about the Steelers and especially Roethlisberger, to deny him credit now really makes the Who-Deys look petty and jealous. At least you and some of your brethren have finally come around … :clap:

We are comparing players, not teams. You are the one arguing wins and Super Bowls. Let's keep in mind that his defense has been the best over that five year span and won some of those games in spite of Ben.

2. Ben Roethlisberger is an average QB at best, he's not an elite QB in this league. For every solid game he has, for every game he leads a comeback, he has a puker. Today was a puker, no more, no less.

3. Tenn. O-line is the best in the league, obviously the best the Steelers have faced this season.

4. Once again, the Steeler play calling leaves little to be desired. Both Ben and his audibles and the calls from the sideline were terrible in 3rd down situations. Same old crap, 3rd and 2 and the wideouts are running 15yd routes. And when Ben had 2 receivers underneath, he chose once again to throw the 20yd seam route into double coverage for a pick on the Titan 30 instead of completing the short one to move the chains.

6. I've been very impressed with Collins and his ability to get rid of the ball when blitzed. He's a veteran with terrific poise, and obviously has no fear of being on his back with that OL in front of him.

7. Newsflash: the rookie RB is fast,,,duh!

8. The bright side for the Steelers D (if there is one) is the fact that Lebeau toned down the blitz package obviously. I assume that was due to the fact that they may meet again.

9. The only thing that the Titans did that I think was stupid was the stomping of the terrible towel at the end of the game. My bet is that Fish probably wouldn't have approved of that either. Why give fuel to the most likely opponent you'll face in the championship game. Bullock should know better, Lendale is stupid enough that he gets a pass.

10. And finally, you will never, ever win in the playoffs when you donate the football 4 times. 2 picks, one returned to the house, 2 lost fumbles, and don't forget the other 2 (all 4 by the average QB) that the Steelers recovered so that they could punt it away.

By definition, there are only a few "elite" quarterbacks in the league.

 

When I think of elite QB's, I think of the best pure quarterbacks. I think Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, formerly Brett Favre, etc.

 

Big Ben is making a push for that, but I wouldn't consider him an elite QB. Simply put, he makes too many mistakes throughout the regular season. Heck, even Steelers fans wanted to crucify him only a few weeks ago.

That's what I was thinking during much of the Super Bowl. I wonder if Steeler fans are still frustrated with their QB...still wishing he'd adjust his style a little?

 

Ben is one of those guys who almost always rises up and makes it happen in the clutch moments regardless of how he's played prior to that point. I'll take him in Tennessee any time the Steelers want to send him packing...

 

A QB is always a lightning rod for criticism for any team. That's just part of the game. Sure, Roethlisberger can be frustrating at times. My beef has been more with the O-line the past two years. If the line were better, he wouldn't be forced to have to scramble so much to make plays.
