16th all A regionals will be loaded !!!!

Featured Replies

It's just opinions, tell us how bad all of our teams are and how good everyone else is.

That would be something new.

Not trying to put down the 16th region teams, but when someone states that several teams in that region are better than "most" of the teams that make it to Richmond, I'm just asking why?? Just like it I said the top 5 "A" teams in the 9th would win the 16th easily (this year's Lions aside), I might get a little pushback????

I'm just saying that only one team will come out of the region, so we will not know how the entire region would stack up against another region. But, the 16th does have some quality teams in the All A. Of course Elliott is the favorite to advance, but Bath County is playing very well, Rose Hill is doing well, Fairview is a good team, Raceland is playing a lot better. There are some quality teams in the 16th All A. How would they stack up against the 9th Region? I will leave that to you to prognosticate.

Let me hear it, stack these teams up against the 9th Region All A teams.

Admittedly a tough one to compare, as someone above pointed out these 16th region teams seldom venture out of there region (again this year's EC team being an exception); but since you asked:

Teams that should compete for the 9th region A

Beechwood--finished 2nd in the AIT, including a 82-64 win against the home team!

Newport Catholic--No 16th games, but has played a very competitive out of area schedule including a narrow loss to LexCath.

Cov. Holy Cross--Again no games vs. the 16th, but has played a quality out of area schedule inlcuding Mason County (15 pt. loss), Henderson Cty. (6 pt. loss).

Newport, St. Henry, etc.--No 16th games but schedules would appear much tougher than what I see from the 16th "A" teams.

Another measuring tool (admittedly stretching here as not much to go on when they don't leave the area), Bishop Brossart (NKY "A" team, but 10th region) has two easy wins over Lewis and Russell.

Bottom line, we'll probably never know, as your top team would be favored over anyone up here, and little to go by from there. I'm sure there's some fine teams down there that get little credit outside the area, but when you don't travel to other areas, its hard to get any recognition?? Elliott, with their current team, has chosen to travel and show them off; and you'd have to agree, they are certainly getting recognized!!

It should be fun Sat. at Menifee Co . Smaller than EC gym and smaller than Fairview, where they did turn people away, they also asked people to leave that had played the game before us. WHY! !

Can't wait to see what has been called a "cracker box" that holds about 800 With the hype, ranking, and press the Elliott crowds are growing and growing. The games at East and West Carter were full to the max and those gyms I'm told hold around 2,000. Some were turned away. Many are probably going to be turned away and mad in the tourney at Frenchburg.

They play the Region in Johnson Arena in Morehead, why not the All A Regional?? Are these second class teams with second class citizens??

Johnson Arena holds about 5,000 and no one would be turned away. I thought the idea was to sell as many tickets as possible which creates more $$$?? You can't get 75 lbs. of sand in a 25 lb. bag!!! Somebody should have had the foresight to look in the crystal ball and see that a gym that seats 800will not work with the Elliott growing crowds!!! I will attend and it will be like Sardine city. Just hope everyone baths and puts on deodrant.

That's what I thought! By the way how many does Elliott's gym hold? Not much more. Why did they host the district there last year they should have seen about hosting the district at Johnson or Weatherby or East or West or even Boyd Co. I bet Elliott's Gym won't hold no more than 1000 or 1200 tops. East ought to try that this year you would put 4 to 5 thousand in Morehead for an Elliott v. West or East final. just my opinion. I have been in both not much difference between Elliott and Menifee's gym.

Menifee's gym looks smaller to me than Elliott's gym.

I think it is, also.

Menifee may have less than a stellar night on Tuesday. One of their Senior's lost his father yesterday to a battle with cancer. Everyone please keep the Lawson family in your prayers.

Probably is by 200 or so but not enough to knock Menifee's gym.

Our thoughts will be with the Lawson family.

Let's not walk , let's hustle and play hard! ! !

Will do.

The title of this thread is meant as a joke right?? The 16th region All "A" has about as much drama as a Massachusetts' Senatorial election, with Elliott County playing the part of Ted Kennedy!! Obviously they still need to play the games, but EC should win this regional by an average of 25+?? It will be a serious upset if they don't win it all, much less their own rather weak region.

DEFINITELY not a JOKE! There's no doubt Elliott is a HEAVY favorite in the 16th All A, but the quality of All A teams in the 16th is no laughing matter. Elliott is a favorite to not only win the All A but also the Sweet Sixteen. Why should this discount the other "a" teams in the 16th. By NO means are they weak especially to the other "a" teams in the state. Don't mistake "weak" for being less publicized.

They're only "less publicized" because they only play each other, so no one knows how they stack up against teams from other regions? I just feel to say that several "A" teams in the 16th would beat most of the teams that make it to EKU is not only naive, but disrespectful to the other small school teams in the state?? BTW--History is on the side of the rest of the state--What's the 16th's record in the "A"??
