Flotsam
Congrats to the Bluebirds. The Colonels kept things interesting into the 4th quarter. Drew the lead down to 6. Highlands was relentless. Kowolonek all world. The Birds pulled away with layups and smooth as silk 3 point bombs. Cov. Cath.'s season is beginning to look like an episode of House. What the heck is the persistent mystery illness wiping out the team?? Starting point guard (Shover) and now his backup point guard (Pauly) were on the bench tonight with nagging illness. Cov. Cath.'s starting center (Isler) raced to the bathroom repeatedly throughout the game. Senior forward Counts is ill and in street clothes. Is there an epidemiologist in the arena? Clyde
Bad shot selection Missed inside shots (they fed the post well tonite) Inability to handle HHS' pressure out top Grote It was either a 4 or 5 point game with about 3 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. A terrible 3 attempt followed by another missed shot followed by a bustout on a bad throw-in from under CCH's basket took it to a 12 point lead in a about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Ballgame. The rest was academic.
Clyde
When was the last time CCH played 5 sophomores in prime time without it being a blowout?

Sounds like that was the nail in the coffin. How did Maile play tonight?
Qryche11
Boxscore posted on Herald website. Covington Catholic 13 15 10 16 54 Highlands 14 18 17 21 70 Covington Catholic (3-9) -- Ives 9, Robinson 1, Connelly 5, Maile 16, Sorrell 6, Wilson 4, Wellbrock 2, Thelen 6, Isler 5. Highlands (9-3) -- Lother 1, Gordon 5, Kowolonek 26, Watson 2, Dill 9, Grote 23, Grubbs 4. I'd say this was a coming out party for George Grote. Great ballgames for Kowolonek and Grote. Dill almost hits double figs as well. Nice work boys, way to take care of biz at home.

He gets a lot of layups in transition but to hit 26 is pretty darn good. Im more impressed with Grote getting 23 after struggling in the past several games.
