It was either a 4 or 5 point game with about 3 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. A terrible 3 attempt followed by another missed shot followed by a bustout on a bad throw-in from under CCH's basket took it to a 12 point lead in a about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Ballgame. The rest was academic.

Bad 3 Pt attempt by CCH next trip down.

Dill comes down and scores for HHS 42-33.

CCH then has a TO on their next trip.

Steve K scores off the TO on an "and 1". 45-33

 

1:44 now left in the 3rd.

 

So in 1:07 it went from a 4 pt game to 12 pt game. Ball Game.

HHS must have a heckuva lot of kids playing jr high basketball then. CCH's crowd wasn't a whole lot better. Not sure why it wasn't filled. Great place to watch this type of game. Band sounded good. CCH student section was loud.

 

I do like how Willie doesn't give in to the CCH student section. He keeps his boys right on the bench during a TO despite 150 boys screaming their heads off from 3 feet away.

Thanks for the shout out! These kids work hard and there's no website for them. The pep bands always make a big game bigger. Loved them when I played...and even more now!

My wife commented on them as well. She doesn't see a lot of games and thought all schools had their band playing. I wish they did. It certainly adds to the atmosphere.

The pep band should be at every home game. It really gets the crowd and players pumped up whether you believe it or not.

I called around fifteen if I recall correctly.

It was a disappointing crowd overall.

 

That is because the student body is threatened by the administration about their behavior on the afternoon announcements so they simply choose not to come. CovCath student body rides the refs and makes noise behind the HHS bench and the few HHS students that are there stand and watch with little noise made. The administration needs to get over themselves and let the kids be kids. I in no way encourage the foul language or distasteful cheers directed at an opponent or individual player, but not allowing them to say anything is simply a joke.

 

Now for the game. The player of the game last night was definitely George Grote. He looked more like the player that I saw over the summer. Steve K seems to always be in the right place at the right time which leads to many easy baskets. Maile played extremely well for CovCath, but sometimes forces things a little too much.

Is this the implosion I was hearing about.....sounds like a normal ebb and flow to a game that in this instance was benefitting HHS. Grab a piece of time throughout any game and one team may make a run on the other.

This was the main one and it killed the momentum and changed how CCH tried to play offensively. When you're struggling and short-handed you can't afford these lapses. HHS had no such lapse.

How ridiculous, you would think they would take a positive spin and encourage the kids to come. It continues to be an embarrassment to the school. I dont care how many football state championships you win the fact that the student body doesnt create an atmosphere like most other schools is embarrassing. I applaud the CovCath Crazies for their attendance to home and away games.
