We agree on offense except for running back. We will be good at that position. Defensively, we are a little short of that team in the secondary. Pope, Stevenson, Belcher, Ball & company were good in that secondary. Of course, Pope was very good on both sides of the ball..........Wolfe has been a fine addition as kicker.

 

Expectations are for an experienced, hard nosed football team that has been through a lot of adversity to be 500 or better and win a few ball games in the 1A playoffs.

 

I don't understand the thinking behind the schedule but then again what do I know? Everybody always says that playing a tough schedule will benefit you in the long run, but it can and has killed more than one team in the past. For myself it will be interesting to see how this schedule helps/hurts them next year. Only time will tell I guess!

I agree. Corbin, Lee & Knox will be tough for us to say the least!

Playing Corbin is a win/win situation for JB. If you get beat, you were supposed to and, if you win, its huge. Also, playing them very early like this really lets you know where you are in terms of expectancy. Besides all that, I think Harlan can compete with Corbin. Dont get me wrong...Corbin is obviously the favorite but I think the Dragons may be able to hang in there with the Redhounds. They might catch Corbin looking down the road a little. Im looking forward to this one!:thumb:

I still do not understand why you play teams like Corbin and Knox, but the Dragons will not play the Bears 3 miles up the road. That would draw the biggest crowd for a game in Harlan Co. history. I think it would be great for the town.:confused:

I think their line could be as good, but they are short at quarterback, running back and receiver, plus overall team speed, the secondary and special teams.

 

I just think it's a bad idea to build up the expectations too much for a team that was 3-9 a year ago.

Got to enjoy an afternoon of practice yesterday. Although, I believe they are supposed to be closed . .......They are a mature and confident football team. The seniors are big & stong and well seasoned. I was also impressed by several freshman. They are stepping up and a few of them will see significant playing time this year.

 

I'm looking forward to seeing some different colored jerseys on the field with them. :ylsuper:

Got to enjoy an afternoon of practice yesterday. Although, I believe they are supposed to be closed . .......They are a mature and confident football team. The seniors are big & stong and well seasoned. I was also impressed by several freshman. They are stepping up and a few of them will see significant playing time this year.

I think the Dragons might get more than they they are expecting in the Redhounds. I hope it is a good game, but I expect the Hounds to win and win big. If they can not beat Harlan by a large margin then the Hounds will not get far in the playoffs. I know the chatter on BGP will keep the Hounds alert as they travel to Harlan to open the season.
