I think I understand the point you're trying to make. So let me try to clarify my position:

 

1) I think county boundaries mean absolutely nothing in terms of realignment. Period. I think geography is the most logical way to re-district. So...I'm NOT saying North will likely stay with Oldham and South because of the fact they are in the same county. County lines - IMO - mean nothing.

 

2) That said - although Eminence and Henry are obviously just 8 miles apart - I think the KHSAA powers-that-be - when last re-districting - were working from the south up (or perhaps from the north down), and the first four (or last four) teams they encountered were Anderson, Spencer, Shelby, and Eminence. Pure speculation on my part, but that's my theory as to how it happened.

 

3) So why am I saying that NO appears destined to be with the other two Oldham schools for the foreseeable future? I'm just saying that, geographically, I don't see how it would make sense to split any of the Oldham schools out of the 29th right now, given the current teams in the region. A lot of people in Oldham County would prefer that the Oldham schools were in different districts... (Personally, I'm glad they're in the same district, but only for one reason - I can only cover one district tournament at a time!)

In the 4th region, Clinton County and Todd County Central are 160 miles apart with mostly bad roads. Someone explain to me how the KHSAA justifies this? At Clinton County, which is on the Tennessee line, we can drive to Florence quicker than we can drive to Todd County. If they are really concerned about STUDENT athletes a situation like this would never occur. Imagine that trip on a school night.

From Albany (the Clinton County seat) to Florence is 199 miles.

 

From Albany to Elkton (where Todd Central is) is 140 miles.

In the 29th, we're pretty lucky in that regard. Trimble County (Bedford) to South Oldham in Crestwood is probably the longest drive in the 29th, and it's only about 35 minutes...

That's pretty par for the course. It will change - dramatically. The NCKC schools always play a huge percentage of their games vs. other NCKC schools...and the 31st district plays a "home and home" district seeding schedule, so that takes up 6 of their games. Almost all schools play most of their non-region schedule in December, especially with all the holiday tournaments. I personally think that this is an advantage... Anderson Co., Oldham Co., South Oldham, North Oldham have already played the likes of Scott County, Holmes, Henderson County, Ballard, Shelby Valley, Jeffersontown, Ryle, etc.

I have heard Montgomery is going to the 16th region and Clark to the 11th.

Can't see Montgomery going to the 16th, since most of the teams in the region are so far away. There's already bellyaching in football about how far Montgomery has to travel to play Ashland and vice versa. Plus who would move to the 40th?

i just can't believe that they put the northern Ky teams in the 10th region. It just seems they're out of place.

Some more fun! Get the right 9th region teams into the 10th and NKU will become the permanent host.

Oh this would be great! Then Montgomery would have to justify that 8 million dollar gymnasium they only 1/3 fill during the regular season! :laugh:

 

Montgomery would almost be as close to the teams in the 14th as they would the teams in the 16th. They used to be in same district as Estill. Any way you slice it Montgomery has to travel a ways to some of the teams in their region, even in the 10th.

Takes 3 plus hours to drive to to Todd from Clinton, takes a little less than 3 hrs to sports of all sorts in Florence. A 2 lane bad road most of the way to Todd and interstate to Florence.
