Early Candidates for Mr. Basketball

So if Middleton's not top 3 in the 10th region, who are they?

I agree. Middleton is a player and anyone who doesn't think so obviously hasn't seen the kid play more than once.

It will be really hard for Middleton to get a lot of attention for Mr. Basketball already committing to Georgetown. Jon Hood is a lock, no question.

Russ Middleton who is a long shot but still deserves some attention

A very good player & great kid who will be good NAIA player but IMO has been the most over rated player in the state the last 3 years. This is not a knock on him as I said he is a very good player but not near the recognition. Thanks MR. Miller & Mr Setty!

 Please help me understand this. He has been the most overrated player in the state the last three years but he hasn't gotten enough recognition. How can that be?

:laugh::laugh::fire:

First of all, Stenzel is better than Middleton. Rash's numbers aren't great right now, but he might be better than Middleton. Kyle Campbell, even though he is at little bitty Nicholas County, individually might be better than Middleton. Lets not forget about Zollo either.

Now as far as saying the 10th region is mediocre. I'll stand by that comment. Sure, we produced some state championships over the past decade but the region as a whole is very mediocre. Let's take out the top two teams, Mason and Clark. Then it is very mediocre. If you take the top two teams out of the 11th, 5th, 6th, and probably the 9th, then you still have plenty of 3rd rank through 6th ranked teams in those regions that would mop up the majority of the 10th region. Name one school this year in the tenth region besides Clark, Montgomery or Mason that could even make it to the 11th region tournament? Last I saw, Bourbon County was ranked 6th in the 10th region and just took a 26 point loss to Sayre(11th region powerhouse). Thats like saying that the Big 10 is as good as the SEC in football. Sure Ohio State has been to the finals a couple of times, but what Big 10 school would go 500 in the SEC? Just my opinion.

Out of all the the players you mention how many are seniors and are gonna actually get the honor of Mr. Basketball this year?

I think a Scott and Campbell would offer a better fight than Bourbon County. I'll give this to you, the 10th is very top heavy and bottom-tier teams are not that great.

Scott actually played with Mason for 3 1/2 quarters with the lead never getting bigger than 5 points and then I think Scott just got a little gased at the end and took some ill-advised choices. I actually might have to say that the 11th is a little overrated because of all the hype it gets year in and year out. I'm not denying they are one of the best regions in the state but you guys keep saying no one else compares and throw other regions under the bus.

I think Hood will win this award.

2-6 is a toss up IMO

I think Ferguson has shot he has been very productive for 4 years.

His team has won a ton of games and made it to the State tourney in back to back years and should make it back this year. He has come up big for his team in just about every big game it has played.

2. Ferguson

3. Sanford

4. Phares

5. Jenkins

6. Et. Faulkner

Ferguson is a nice ball player but a lot of things are factored.

Level of competition being one of the biggest...

Hood will win in a land slide. He is by far the best Kentucky has to offer. He sees double and triple teams every night and still manages to put up 28 a game.

Everybody knows that Hood is going to win Mr. Basketball.

You can throw level of Comp out the Window it would be different if Ferguson was scoring 15 points a game in the 16th Region but he is scoring 25 to 30 points a game every game.

I think Hood will win this award.

Nice try.

Excellent point. When is the last time a team from the 10th made a serious run at Rupp???:D:D:D:D

Thats what I was thinking.:thumb:

Middleton is an excellent player though.

My vote would go to Hood for Mr. Basketball.

I think Hood will win this award.

No disrespect to Ferg, but no way he is the second best player in the state and in front of Sanford, Jenkins OR Phares.

I ask you this...would he put up 25--30 a game playing against the same competition NIGHT IN AND NIGHT OUT that the others see?

And Ethan Faulkner isn't even better than Riley of Holmes IMO so I don't see how he even came up in this discussion.

Elliot has a nice TEAM that plays EXTREMELY well together, but individually, they aren't on par with the ones mentioned for Mr. Basketball.

And had Elliot played in the 9th last year or the year before, they don't even make it to Rupp. They lost to the 2nd best team in the 9th, Covcath, by 14 points last year.

Nice try.

I'll ask you the same question I asked some others in another thread, have you seen Elliott play? If so, when?
