Any one got anything positive to say about the Lewis County and Elliott County game?

 

Yes, Elliott Co has a very, very good team and Lewis Co has a good team. How's that!!!!!!!!!!

All teams will get better as the season progresses.

1. Elliott County is a very good team.

2. They do not have the size, athleticism, or depth to play with a top 20 team in the nation. They have a lot of heart, but teams like Oak Hill, Duncanville, St. Anthony's, or Lincoln would just have their way with them. Not being a jerk, it's just the truth.

3. Scott County is the best team in the state. Considering they did compete with and could have beaten a top 20 team in the nation I think they really won't stuggle much with most of the teams in the state.

4. Maybe Elliott should/could have tried to schedule harder, but their schedule really isn't that bad. They have to play a minimum of 6 in region games because of the seeding in the 62 district, and they have to schedule in the region this year, because they won't be experienced or capable enough to play a statewide schedule next season.

Ever heard of Scott County, who took the #1 or #2 team in the NATION to overtime?

Elliott County fans have every right to support and voice their opinions about their team. I can't understand why so many insist on "going straight for the throat" of these Elliott County fans when they show their "fanatical" admiration and support for their team. Why can't we just state our opinions once and be done with it. Oh, by the way the word fan comes from fanatic.

Money has nothing to do with anything. I don't have the schedule in front of me right now but I can assure you that atleast half of those games are Eastern Kentucky Conference games. That is the same conference that Elliott Co has played in for the last 50 years. Lets just not play those games this year because we have a really good team. The coaches at Elliott Co have more than just this year to think about. While Elliott Co basketball has a bright future, they are not going to be this good every year.

 

And it was stated that they won't be playing in the EKC after this year. I heard it myself. Why is that? He said b/c of the leadership......

My question is: Where does it end? People say that they want to see a non-traditional team win it all. Then when a non-traditional team does well, people say they can't win against the good teams. When they win by 30, people say they should have won by 60, then when they win by 60 people say they play a weak schedule. When they strengthen their schedule people say they play in a weak region.

 

When is a team good enough? Why not just watch the games be played and see what happens. Do they have to win them all? Do they have to win them all by 60 points? Do they have to win them all by halftime? When is winning good enough?

 

I'm not a fan of Elliott County, I am not a fan of Scott County, but I know they are both good teams. Why don't we just admit they are good and watch what happens, instead of trying to tell people that they are not good enough?

The people that whine about the schedule and say that this team can't compete with the elite teams are reaching for reasons why this team just keeps WINNING. This group of kids are just that WINNERS. If you ask any of them, at the end of the night it doesn't matter if it's the Boston Celtics or Riverside Christian, in the end it's all about the "W" and getting ready for the state tourney. Remember, if they are fortunate enough to repeat as 16th Region champs, that will be 3 straight trips to Rupp Arena for a school with 300 students and all homegrown talent. I dare any program in the state to try and build their own program with these numbers and compete for 3 straight trips to the big dance. Not gonna happen.

Come on! Everyone from Elliott out there? I'm not knocking Elliott at all, love to see them win the whole thing, but let's shoot the homegrown horse once and for all.

I watched them play in Inez, Ky the same night Elliott Co. played and they had trouble with average at best WV team.

 

I know Phares was sitting on the bench, but I'd be willing to be if they drew EC at that scrimmage EC would have beaten then handily. Everyone who was there that I spoke to, said EC was the most impressive team there.

 

Given Richie Phares was benched due to an injury or something. But, if he had played I'd be willing to bet EC would have given them fit's. I've also watched them play another game (forget who) and they still didn't look that impressive. And that one transfer from Rose Hill (Euton) is big and can shoot decent, but he looks awkward with the basketball in his hands, didn't look like he could handle the ball to well or handle pressure. I think E.C. could very well beat them on a given night.

Same team you got this year split with Rose Hill with Jackson and Euton last year. Now they're with Guyn and Pares and the rest. Again, nothing wrong with supporting your team, and I commend all of you Elliott folks doing just that, but please!

Guarantee I can name about Twenty or Thirty other teams that could have had about 10 or 12 straight trips to the State Tournament if they played in the weak 16th Region!
