I dont know if some of you fans ever get out of Salt Lick any but too say Elliot County is the best team in the state is just plain ridiculous! I do agree, they are no doubt one of the top ten teams in the state but definately not number one! I have seen Elliot play this year and they are very good but for instance if Elliot County played a team like Duncanville, TX like Scott County did they would get run out of the gym by 30+ points. I am 100% hoping Elliot County does great this year but I am just stating facts.

 

No one has to beat Duncanville, or a team like Duncanville, to make it to Saturday night at Rupp.:thumb:

Also for the record I wish EC the best. I love seeing small schools succeed. If the state championship banner gets raised anywhere other than inside Royal Nation, I hope its in Elliott Co.

Thats great. This scheduling stuff is getting old though to a lot of people. They can't help what region they are in and they can't help that they can only play a certain amount of games. They beat two top 25 teams in the preseason, Clark Co. by 20+ and Madisonville by 30+, but what those are just scrimmages. They only have a certaiin amount of games they can play and a lot of them goes to contracted games, EKC conference games that they play in every year since there was an Elliott Co., and they have to allow for the All "A" state tournament as well. That takes out MOST of the games they are allowed to play. The remaining games they have picked up against great competiton which will have them prepared to play come March. Lets not forget that almost all of players have played AAU basketball, against the best of the best, since there were in the 6th grade.

This scheduling stuff is getting old though to a lot of people.

It's very understandable for people to not be convinced by 30 point wins over drastically inferior competition. Well, let's see if we can relocate Elliott County High School from Sandy Hook to Louisville so that the can play a decent schedule and prove themselves yet again. Here's the bottom line, Sandy Hook is small, Elliott County is small, and its very difficult for a school of this size to travel all over the world to play a tough schedule. I don't see too many Louisville or Lexington schools coming to Sandy Hook to play, either. They'll have opportunities to prove their worth against the WV team and then in Myrtle Beach. Then, they'll get another opportunity in the All A Classic. Finally, they'll get to show there merit again in Rupp Arena.

Ok, lets look at what the coach did with the schedule outside the region.

 

Beach Ball Classic -- 4 games against top teams in the country.

Kentucky Bank Shootout -- South Charlestion, WV which is one of the tops teams in their state.

Kentucky Prep Classic -- Anderson Co. favorite to win their region

Mason Co -- top 25 team in the state

 

 

That is 7 game against some of the top teams in the state and country for that matter. Elliott Co. has potiental to play more top 25 teams as the All "A" State tourney. Elliott only plays 8 homes game this year as well. They have already played a top 10 team in the preseason and a top 25 team. Again, they can't help what region they are in. So with that being said, King James please tell me what more he could have done?

RA09 you can bank on the fact that those guy's "wanting to see the banner hang in sandy hook " is not true. Its also not about the schedule either. Its kinda like the snake thing. Most snakes are not a threat because they run if given a chance, but people still dont like them and most people try and get rid of them because they feel threatened.

No one cared about Elliotts schedule five years ago, but now they do have the capability of knocking off some of the traditional "cream of the crop" teams and people feel threatened by that possibility and thats why all the negativity. They also say its because Elliott fans brag to much but I don't buy that either. Who wouldn't get a little overzealous if their team was winning and going farther than they ever had in school history. A fan there would kinda be a weirdo if he wasn't freaking out about them and hyping them up just like the big boys get to do every year including the ones who are dissing Elliott. There is nothing wrong with believing in a dream that you might win state or having confidence that your team is one of the best. Here's what I agree with - when you see Elliott warming up on the other side of the court, you better be ready to bring it or you'll be beat after the first quarter. There is nothing wrong with Elliott's schedule even though everyone seems to lose sleep worrying about it.

No, I think Elliott is a super talented team. But as an outsider I see Elliott fans defending their schedule as if it is tough when in reality it is not. I think Elliott is a legit top 5 team in the state.

Money has nothing to do with anything. I don't have the schedule in front of me right now but I can assure you that atleast half of those games are Eastern Kentucky Conference games. That is the same conference that Elliott Co has played in for the last 50 years. Lets just not play those games this year because we have a really good team. The coaches at Elliott Co have more than just this year to think about. While Elliott Co basketball has a bright future, they are not going to be this good every year.

I completely agree. Fifteen games inside that weak of a region is dishonorable to their players, and does not prove them ready come tournament time. Oh wait they don't have to worry come tournament time because the region is so weak.
