Probably not for the traditional powers that win.

 

But I think teams in every class will begin to feel like every team in 6A does not named St X / Trinity.

I was more talking about fans from the schools that have zero or little chance of beating on of the powers.

Let's say that might include 90% of the fans in the state. I wonder when it sets in with the player and coaches of those team who can't compete?

 

As a player I never felt like we were facing anyone we could not beat as a fan I can set back and look at it from a different light. Meaning I can see things for the way they are and not the way I want them to be.

What is impressive about it? It shows the lack of depth in Kentucky high school football compared to the states to its north and south. It also suggests that six classes are at least two too many for a state as small as Kentucky.

As many of us have known all along ... including you, I suspect.

Back to back in 5 of 6 classes is a prime example that 6 classes makes it even easier for the traditional powers to win state titles.

I agree. We should go back to four (or even five) classes. What I'd really like to see is four regular classes with a single upper class for anyone that wants to give it a shot.

I prefer four classes ... five is acceptable. Six is not ...

I wish we would go to 3 classes.

The number of classes are not going to solve the few teams that dominate every season.

It will stop them all from getting to the finals but, the same few teams will be the ones playing in the later rounds of the playoffs.

^ I agree but it will make for some much better games in the later rounds and eliminate more of the 1-9/2-8/0-10 #4 seeds that make that playoffs now. I like 4 teams making the playoffs under the old 4 class format. I don't like 4 teams making it with 6 classes.

If it was going to get rid of the teams who are under .500 in the playoffs then I would be all for it. I just can't see how a sub .500 team can be awarded with a playoff game.

Not to mention scheduling and travel is brutal with some teams only having 3 district games.

5 Classes. 6 is a joke. I think if this 6 classes continues, then you are going to see a lot of teams repeats like the last couple years or at the least, those teams will be playing in the finals on a regular basis. For example, Beechwood in 1A, NewCath and even Ft. Campbell in 2A and Central will be playing in the 3A final until they just get tired of it. 4A is the most "balanced" in my opinion with the West part being wide open on a yearly basis. In 4A East, it's going to be Bell, Boyle or LexCath---that's a given.

 

In 5A it's going to be Highlands or CovCath when they have their years. 5A West, take a pick between Christian Co., Hoptown, Owensboro, John Hardin, BG, Warren Central, etc. on any given year.

 

6A----take a wild guess.

I thought what we all saw by witnessing Boyle County reel off 5 straight in the old classification would be something that none of us would ever see again, but if something isn't done about 6 classes, then get used to that kind of run (which is still the greatest high school athletic accomplishment I've ever seen over a few year span).

I completely agree that no 1-9 or 0-10 team should ever get an 11th game. It's just not right!!! A playoff game is earned, not given!!!!
