Folks always talk about the "Big 3" in Louisville, T, X, & H. I think Central may have flown under the radar and passed H as the #3 team in Jefferson County. Way to go Jackets!

 

Winning one game against Male doesn't make them part of that club. I'd come closer to putting Manual in that threesome than Central.

Central "got ready" for the 2nd season by playing out of district games vs. Male, Manual, St. X, Western and Highlands (all teams that spent time in the top 5 their respective class) in the regular season.

 

It'll be intresting with the 2-year out of district contracts up who they have next season.

 

Either way, they should be an odds-on-favorite to make it to WKU for a three-peat.

From the Manual-Male "Old Rivalry" football game, first played in 1893. The winner of the game was awarded the "Victory Barrel", painted purple with a gold H for Male, and red with a white M for Manual.

 

Legend has it that one of those games was played for the ownership of the letter "M", the loser had to find a different letter.

What's with Fugate's uniform, it looks like a practice uni with just the number. Did he pull a Earl Campbell with a tear away earlier in the season?

 

He did not wear a tear away jersey. If he had, it would have "torn away." The game jersey was simply too small, so he wore his practice jersey. He did not cheat. The kid is legit. I think his numbers speak for themselves. He had an off game (that had a lot to do with the defense) and still had 133yds and a td against a defense that was loaded with division talent.

Imagine how good central would be if they got 11 kids on the field during special teams and did not get 4 illegal formations.

I didn't take Neerfan's post as an offhanded slap but some good natured ribbing. Everyone knows "tear aways" are illegal and can't/wouldn't be used. It's just a testimony to how great Fugate looked just like Earl Campbell back in the day.
