A lot of teams do things like that...

 

I remember Breathitt playing Danville in the 1998 state semi-finals. Danville had a great back (Jeremy Britt) and Breathitt had a great LB (Wade Collins)...Danville's coaches would wait until Breathitt called its defense, and after they'd see where Collins was lined up on the defense, they'd call their play and run in the opposite direction.

 

Maybe not exactly the same, but similar...and reversed. Instead of the defense waiting to see what the offense did, it was the offense waiting to see what the defense did.

Not sure how you consider it poor sportsmanship. Shouldn't you use any advantages you can get as long as it's not illegal?

Well then as someone stated earlier, it's dumb coaching by the coach to use the signals rather than just calling the play in like most coaches.

Just playing Devil's advocate here, but maybe Hazard doesn't have the coachign resources Beechwood does. Maybe Beechwood has been watching film after film of Hazard's coaches and translating their signals.

As to the game. Beechwood's power will wear Hazard down even more in the 2nd half. If Hazard could have scored or kept it at 7-0 then that would have been interesting but it sounds like Beechwood is just too strong and talented.
