December 11, 200817 yr I believe so. If one were to live according to the bible, we could keep ourselves from getting in a lot of the messes we find ourselves in.
December 11, 200817 yr Faith in God and the written word, can help many aspects of our lives. Will reading the Bible, bring you fame, fortune, untold riches and contentedness....NO. It will help you understand life and the path we should choose, to live by. God won't put any more on us, that we can bear.

Absolutely. 3. Yes. Love and respect others. If we do this, many of today's problems go away.

It will, however, provide some strong biblically-based financial principles on which to base your life and spending habits and help put money in its proper perspective. One of the topics in which Jesus is most quoted in the bible is money and wealth and the importance and emphasis one should have on these things. Even if you were to go to or read an entirely secular financial class or book, there will still be overall themes, ideas, platforms, and concepts of investing and debt management presented to you - along with the "nuts and bolts" information. The Bible simply presents these themes and principles from a Christian perspective. (Not a bad perspective to have :thumb:).

December 11, 200817 yr The only thing that Jesus promises is the if you truly follow His teachings, your life will not be easy. So I say it is relevant, but only to the extent that it teaches us how to love God by loving everyone else. Righteousness.

Yes, I believe that He is wanting us to become good stewards of our finances so that we will be able to better honor Him and others with our checkbooks. Some scripture to validate my thinking. Psalm 37:21 The wicked borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous is gracious and gives. Proverbs 22: The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower becomes the lender’s slave. Proverbs 22:26-27 Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts; if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you. Ecclesiastes 5:5 It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. Yes, I believe it the Bible does help people get through family matters. So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time. (Galatians 6:9 NLT) Yes, I agree with MountainThunder - Love and respect others. If we do this, many of today's problems go away. Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave himself as a sacrifice to take away your sins. (Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT)

December 12, 200817 yr No doubt the bible can help in todays world. Not only with finances and personal issues, but also with how to resolve conflict. Looking at the bible from a historical view, the problems faced by those in biblical times, are the same ones faced by us in the modern age. So, if the bible is a history of man, those who do not learn from it will be doomed to repeat it. So here we are today looking at the same problems they did. We haven't learned much now have we, collectively speaking I mean. Alas Babylon!
