Why is it called dead period? My son has had more out of class assignments and stuff that is not suppose to be this week. What is technically a no no ? Do all teachers and schools do it the same? My son is at UK.

haha, I DO have ADD. And in fact I have been sitting here trying to do a 15 page paper due Friday and have got absolutely nothing done! I could use the library right about now, but I am not driving all the way up to school to use it. BGP is distracting me as well, that could be a problem ha.

Yea I really don't care to make the drive all the way up there, it's about 20 or so minutes from my house. Ususally I just stay at school longer on Tuesday and Thursday, or go after work on monday and wednesday. In fact I think I've been up there every monday and wednesday night for the past 3-4 weeks.

As the song says "You're gonna miss this. You're gonna want this back." Trust me on that!;)

Perhaps, but I won't miss the 60+ hours a week between school and work.:creepy:

lol yeah, it's about 25 for me. And I go to school M-F and work about 4 to 5 of the seven days a week so I can't get the energy to drive to school to go in the library. My laptop on my lap in my bed works fine. :)

Kentucky is horrible when it comes to this. They've always got something going on during "dead week".

Technically, I think all of the stuff is optional. I had a few professors who held "optional" exams then, if we wanted to take them early. Of course everybody did, so that we could get them over with quicker.

"Dead week" is an absolute farce, though.

By the way, it's not ADD when you can't focus on your schoolwork.

If it's uninteresting, it's just boring. THAT is why you can't focus...

Obviously there are exceptions, but you get my drift.

You've got a weave???????

The library at Dayton was like Grand Central Station as it got closer to finals. It used to drive me crazy. I was there several nights a week starting in August and then with three weeks left in the semester, everybody and their best friend is in the library. And those people had no qualms about talking to each other, answering their cell phones or having their iPod turned up so loud I could hear it three tables away.

The secret was to head over to the law library if you really wanted to get some studying done. If you made any noise in there, you'd get so many dirty looks and angry complaints that you're basically shamed into silence.

My wife goes to the library every day. Must be because she works there.

None of it is optional anymore. I had an Oral Exam on Monday and a Listening exam on Friday of this "dead" week in Japanese. I also have a presentation due today in ECO 391, and a paper due tommorow for another class.

Fortunately, for whatever reason, I had three final exams last week, so most of my classes are over.

That's the thing pretty much at all times at UK's library. It is an excellent facility, but people are too loud (especially close to finals). I never go, I just put my headphones on and stay at home.

There is some serious studying going on in there, that's for sure.

I actually found myself in the library today but only to print out some stuff for a project I was working on. I must say though I couldn't even do that peacefully.

I was in there today.

Who knew so many pretty girls went to the library..
