Anyone who has watched the history of the Trinity-St.X rivalry would know that our win last week was anything but a total shock. We have beaten St.X on other occasions after taking a serious beating in the regular season. Our 14-6 win over them in 2005 after taking a 48-16 shellacking earlier that year should attest to that. SK on the other hand has not shown any ability to beat or even compete with either of the big boys down here.

 

SK should make the trip because they may well do the impossible or make a heck of a game out of it. On any given night and so on... However the kind of cocky talk that we hear from an NKY 6A school that has had an easier road to the finals is what makes for the kind of responses they have received. Much like Ryle in 2006.

There is nothing more that all of us in NKY want is for SK to beat Trinity. Beating a world perinial power house like Trinity would be like the Bengals winning the super bowl it seems like to you guys in Louisville. I guess T and X are the 1 and 2 in the nation because they cant be beat.

By no means is that the case. You do indeed exaggerate our prowess for the sake of rhetoric, I make no such claims. My point was that the big schools in NKY have been, for lack of a better term, weak for some time. There has been 1, count 'em, 1 victory against the Rocks by a NKY big school in the last 30 years. HHS has beaten us before but they are not relevant to the history in regards to this game. Could this SK team show us otherwise this year? Of course they could, again any given night and all.

 

No disrespect is meant just, as I once said a number of years ago to a fan of an NKY big school, bemused indifference and surprise that so many people are making such homer picks in the face of a clear cut favorite from Louisville.

Maybe a Moderator should put another poll up on this thread and everyone vote with their head instead of their heart. My guess is that poll would look more like the Beechwood, Bell County and Highlands polls where those teams are getting 85%+ of the vote. But I am surprised to see NCC getting a 2-1 favored poll over Ft. Campbell and I am surprised that Central is not getting more votes. So maybe Trinity getting 65% of the vote is not that far from how people really feel.

To answer the question of this thread, no. Simon Kenton is not the best team in N. Ky this year (hot or not).

While I'm sure that is the case, it wasn't like the past 30 years have been blowouts. It wasn't until about 2000 that T started demolishing all the NKY teams.

Seems to me that most if not all believe that SK is not the best team in NKY.

I cannot imagine S-K is better than Highlands. If the KHSAA wants some more revenue have Highlands (who will win in a romp) play T (who will win in a romp) the following Friday! Extend the season even more!!! And on a side note, Highlands turned down an offer to play T on a home and home over the next couple of years.

I voted the party line. My way of showing support for Northern Ky teams. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but I cant vote any other way!

As for T, they beat Lafayette a LOT worse, have NEVER lost to Boone (in something like 8 meetings) and Conner would not score 41 on them.

Just 4 years ago Dixie traveled to the Rocks home field and knocked them out of the playoffs in the 2nd game 14-10. Don't believe anybody gave Dixie any chance to win that game. I'm pulling for Simon Kenton to pull off the big upset.
