Congrats SK, you've made a believer out of me. Good luck next week and keep focused. By the way, thanks for making me spend more money next weekend as I will be spending the entire weekend in L'ville to watch NKY football. Thanks again!!!!!!

Haha isn't it nice when your only complaint is because of something great. :D

Alll I can say is I pinched myself, and it's not a dream but a reality. SK got behind early 10-0, and Male was a chippy Fg away from extending the lead to 13-0 with about five minutes left in the half. SK proceeded to block the FG and went on a nice scoring drive to go into the half down 10-7. That drive consisted of a few defensive PI's, and a HB pass from Simpson to Lawrence. Lawrence scored on 4th and 4 for the score. The 2nd half seemed like it couldn't go fast enough once SK got the lead. Male missed about a 40 yard FG to salt the victory, then Simpson got loose and took it to the house on a long run. SK's run defense played a very good game, they bent but didn't break, and I believe the Male announcer said that they held the Bulldogs to 15 net yards rushing on 35 carries. They were able to apply pressure to Britt, and he did make some plays but also went to the turf a few times. Hats off to coach Marksberry and his staff and all the players who've made this season an absolute pleasure to all of us in the stands. I will be making my first trip to Papa John's, and I'm very glad that it won't be for a UK/UL game.

That does not sound like a run defense that "bent but did not break." That sounds like a run defense that completely shut down any running game. Yeah, I'd say .5 yards per rush attempt is halfway decent defense. :thumb:

For the record, for the last two weeks myself and my driver have arrived to the game late, and SK's been down. In both games, the other team did not score after we showed up. I'm DEFINITELY not going to be late next week.

Haha I know right, I had a friend say bend don't break, to which I casually replied with some un appropriate BGP language that this was not acceptable, and that our boys were better than that. This was early in the second quarter. I guess they agreed with me.

After watching Green on a recruiting site, I knew we couldn't let him get past the 2nd level of defenders, and SK did a good job of not allowing him to get comfortable in the open field. Male may have had the advantage of speed at every position, but SK's defense against the run has been very solid all year long, excluding the first Boone game.

Way to go SK!!!:dancingpa

This is one for the age's Simon Kenton State bound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job SK. All of NK knows you will play as hard as you can next week, but win or lose, you all are CHAMPIONS!!

Congrats to the Football Pioneers on this amazing run.

Every so often a team can catch lightning in a bottle - this has to one of the most amazing runs in NoKy football history.

Mojo is an amazing thing!!!!

It's all tied up with four quarters to play................... :thumb:

It wasn't long ago that we were the doormat of NKY, just shows that a program can be built from nothing to something if the right people are involved.

It truly is awesome for SK's coaches and players.

Remember a few weeks ago that people were on hear complaining about the coaches at SK?

I couldn't be more proud right now. These guys just don't give up. I think the most impressive thing through all of this is the job the Simon Kenton coaching staff has done. I believe now this is the second game where they shut out the opponent after half. Those are some pretty good adjustments. I also loved how we aired it out some once we realized there was little safety help. (Green shadowed Simpson almost entire game).

On a side note, I was pretty disappointed at the turnout for the Male faithful. Has it been this bad all season? Or were most of them at the X/Trinity game? I was shocked when I saw how empty the home side was.

God, I hope so!!!! ;)
