I'm talking about the less than mid major schools that get those high seeds usually. While I'm all for rewarding a small school on going to a bowl game, it's money they normally don't get. I see no value in a major D-1 school going to the Johnson and Johnson Day Care and Cleaner Diaper Bowl.
December 3, 200817 yr Personally I think bowl games are valuable to the staff as extra development and to the players as a reward. Bowl games are fun. It's an opportunity for the coaching staff to spend another 4 weeks working with and developing their players. Yes the seniors are leaving, but if you're in a bowl game every year, 4 weeks of additional organized practice each year is the equivilent to an extra year with your team.

A reward for mediocrity for a program like Lousiville. Hasn't this been the argument for the current KHSAA football playoffs. I do not agree that everybody should get to play an extra game. But, in the environment where there are so many meaningless bowl games, then why limit who you choose to get that "extra" game for development. If that is the argument to have an extra game, then let everyone play an extra game, it would be just as pointless!

This is just a meanigless game at the end of the season for anyone other than the BCS teams. In the current environment of college football, those are the only teams who deserve to play postseason football. If you want to do something like Basketball or Baseball (I Know it can't happen before you blast the comment), where the bowl game that you play in means you keep playing, but otherwise, it's useless to see these games.
