December 2, 200817 yr Why all the negative talk about Walton-Verona? Because some kid got on BGP and started some dumb thread about their 7th grade team? Surely we can figure out a legitimate post when we see one. Walton's 7th grade team is extremely talented and no, they haven't lost a game yet this year however, who knows if there a top 10 team. They have some good games coming up on their schedule which should give them an indication of how good they really are. As far as Johnson Central goes, maybe they'll find out later in the year whether WV is a top 5 team or not. Maybe they'll meet in a tournament somewhere. AH seems pretty confident that they aren't. With no disrespect meant at all, anvilhead's team is very good. I'd be careful what you wish for. But I agree, WV would be able to see how they stack up very quickly in the event they meet. I hope it happens.:thumb:

But I still go to every game I can. They beat Lawrence COunty last night 70 something to 16.Shane Hall is playing up on the 8th grade squad, he is not playing 7th as of right now. I think he will play with them in the state tourney though.

December 2, 200817 yr Scott County slipped past Royal Spring 40-37 last night in 7th grade. I said on a different topic earlier in the season that Scott County would not be great. While Portwood is a stud, they just haven't gotten great contributions from many other kids -- the Daniel kid being the exception. If some of their other kids step up, then maybe that will change down the road. Royal Spring packed it in and tried to do all they could to take Portwood away. He still had 18 and Daniel added 14.

From what i've heard, i would imagine that they're an excellent team. As i recall, avnilhead was the one making promises about the strength of other teams. As far as being careful what you wish for....that goes both ways.
December 2, 200817 yr I have seen Walton's guards play several times on different teams and they can play! (assumming McNeil and Moeves) Walton should be a top 10 7th grade team if they have any post presence whatsoever. . I'll guess that the McNeil kid is Jeff's son. Who is Moeves' dad?

December 3, 200817 yr Author In games tonight Meece 7th defeated Lincoln by 10-12. Clinton County 7th defeated Russell County by 20+. Meece may be the 3-4 best 7th grade team in the state behind Scott and LTMS.

Meece may be the 3-4 best 7th grade team in the state behind Scott and LTMS.Meece has a lot to improve on before putting them in the top five 7th grade teams. Right now they are a one man team with Dishman averaging 23 a game. Until they can find someone to step in for Thacker (who is now at Rowan Co.) they will continue to struggle. Thacker was a big loss to this team.
December 5, 200817 yr Where does Flemings 7th grade stack up in all this? Ive heard alot of good things about them.
December 5, 200817 yr Author I would say Fleming would be in the 5-10 range. If some of their kids have grown they could be better than that. I would put LTMS, Scott County, Johnson Central, Clinton County, and Wayne County ahead of them for sure.
