December 19, 200817 yr he's 13 , almost 6 foot 3. Plays mostly out on the floor. When does he turn 14? Is he a grade exception for 13U?
December 19, 200817 yr When does he turn 14? Is he a grade exception for 13U? Yes he is a grade exemption. He played for the Johnson County team that won 12U DII state last year.
December 20, 200817 yr He is doing himself a disservice playing D2. He could play for any Div 1 team in the state if he is dunking at 13.
December 21, 200817 yr Author That's not a fair comment. I know the child and the program. I think Johnson Central is doing it the right way by playing together. Last time I checked no one really cares who wins in AAU. I think a trip to the state tournament would be much more important for him and Johnson Central. I do think he might be available for the DI nationals if someone picked him up. Hall can really play but I like what they are doing, you will see Johnson Central in the sweet sixteen in a few years.

I didnt mean any disrespect with the comment just meant that if he is that exceptional he may want to broaden his horizons and play D1 for a team that is going to Nationals. From what HOOPDR says there is a ton of exposure you can get at those. I am all for kids at schools playing AAU together, trust me my son has been doing it with 6 kids from his school for the past 3 years and they also play D2. Nobody on his team though that is over 6'2 and can dunk. I look forward to seeing this young man progress. :thumb:
December 23, 200817 yr The Fleming Co. 7th grade Cougars remain undefeated at 18-0. They just completed the conference tourny defeating Nicholas Co. 75-34. Like Anvil Head said about Johnson Co. the schedule has not been very tough. Over these 18 games they have outscored opponents 936-437 (avg. score 52-24). The only really close game was an out of conference game against Shelby West MS out of Shelby Co. The boys will play a few more games after Xmas break against the likes of Rowan, Harrison, Bath and Morgan. We put a major beatdown on Rowan Co. last year as 6th graders but they now have Tyler Thacker who moved up when his dad took the coaching postition @ Rowan. I know he will make them much better I'm just not sure what they have to go with him. Could be interesting, I know he made Rowans football team alot better taking over at QB.

This team needs to play some of the better teams around the state to get better. They arent being challenged enough.
December 29, 200817 yr Author Fleming County is very good. I would think Pressley would take them to a couple of AAU tourneys or 8th grade tourneys before the middle school state. Moss Middle from Bowling Green will have a real shot to win it all. They can play! LTMS will be very good and are probably the team to beat, Scott County with Portwood will also be a tough matchup. I think Wayne County is undefeated but I think they are too small/young to win it all ( 4 6th graders).
December 29, 200817 yr Pressley did a good job with the boys during their 5th and 6th grade years but he is no longer involved with this group. The school system already had coaches in place for the 7th and 8th grade teams so they will have them for the next couple of years. I'm not sure about plans or tourny's but I'm assuming the regular season 7th grade coach will at least take them to middle school state. Pressley does help with the high school team (who are struggling by the way), so he is not out of the picture, just not coaching 7th grade.
December 31, 200817 yr Didn't Walton and Johnson Central meet last year in a BCi tournament? I also believe Corbin was in this tournament as well. I know they have played several other teams such as Lincoln Co and Fleming Co. Anyone remember who won these games?
December 31, 200817 yr Not sure. I don't remember the Fleming Co. group that is now 7th graders ever playing them. I could be wrong. They played a ton of games in 5th and 6th grade and I may have forgotten. Last year it seems that alot of people got Flemings 7th grade AAU team (the ones who are now 8th graders) mixed up with the younger boys. According to a poster on here some of the players evidently told some people that they were the 6th grade team rather than the 7th grade team at a BCI tourny last year. I don't think the current 7th grade group played @ BCI last year. The older group has not had near the success at AAU events and BCI tourny's etc.. as the boys that are now in 7th.

I know they have played several other teams such as Lincoln Co and Fleming Co. Anyone remember who won these games? Walton played johnson Central twice in the BCI State Tourney last year. Johnson Central won the pool play game by 17. I believe Walton tried to play them man to man. 2nd game in the semi's Walton won by 2 and played zone. In that matchup is was Johnson's bigs against Walton's guards. The Corbin Team was very good and so was North Laurel.

What was their record last year and what is it this year?

I believe Summit View 8th grade is playing in one. Not sure which. Any other NKY teams or Eastern Ky teams?
