Elliott Co 86 GRC 65 (Russell panorama)

Im assuming Zollo prolly isnt a SEC player, right?

He has some skills but he has a ways to go. He looks very young.

Elliott played well Ethan and Ferg lead the way. Timmy cramed one on Zollo I beleive.

I can not stand Elliott Co. I dunno what it is but I just can not stand that team.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Jealous Much?

Glad to hear Ferg was able to play with a sore wrist. I wish him a speedy recovery. Sounds like the Lions will be a handful if they can keep everybody healthy. GRC is young and will improve as the season progresses. :thumb:

GRC played a lot of different people and with football players just joining the team they were rusty to say the least. They will be a force to be reckoned with come march when they are firing on all cylinders. Elliot only had to pick up where they left off last year. Good team! Too much whining to the officials, thought they got some calls through out the game that were close or even no-calls. They will struggle with deep teams and don't think they will be able to take a state title with depth of bench being what it is. Ferguson kid can flat out shoot!

Just to add a thought on officials, they must have been rusty also some very lopsided calling in first half of play. At one point it was 10 fouls on Clark and 1 on Elliot county.

We,ll play them this time next year and see who is boss!:ylsuper:

I don't think GRC was ready to play with boys just out of football and it will take a while to develope a chemistry that sure isn't there now. Elliott went around us pretty easy tonight ,especially the Faukkner twins. The referees were pretty bad tonight with the lopsided foul calling and some of the charge calls were horrible. Clark made too many bad decisions. Things will get better and Clark will be OK in time. Elliott has a fine team but I knew that before tonight.

I agree I love this Elliott Co team.....fun team to watch.

GOLD--Thanks for the good words on Elliott. This was one game and the season hasn't started yet. We all have a long road ahead and many twists and turns. But, I think Elliott sent a message that they can play with the big, tall, athletic teams around the state. GRC has some tall, long, talented athletic guys and will be a force in March at Rupp.

Ethan unofficially had 28 points and again shows why I think there is not a better point guard in the state. He controls things and runs the team and I believe was 14 of 14 on free throws. Ferg to be honest was way off in his shooting the first half, warmed up with 4 treys in the second half and still finished with 23. He said his hand was fine (sore and slightly swollen), but he would say that if it was broke or halfway cut off. He is the type of pretty shooter where you expect them all to go in and they all look good.

Timmy Knipp played with Zollo step for step and had a monster dunk (in the half court set after faking a three and driving all the way to the basket) and got fouled at the same time. Timmy showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim and finish. He played big with several blocks inside and good rebounding. I believe this will be Timmy's coming out year and big things down the road. I have already seen marked improvement in his game from last year.

Evan Faulkner had a quite game, but steady play with around 9 points. Evan didn't play great, but certainly didn't play poor either.

I was impressed with the athletic ability and play of Robbie Stenzel. Just a sophomore and one of the top players in the state already.

I would say maybe we will meet again in Rupp, but I hope not unless it is on Saturday night. I can think of about 10 regions that the 16th would prefer over the 10th region in the first round.

Good luck to the Cards. Quite an impressive array of athletes and talent.

I certainly don't know why. If you got to know these kids they are very humble, polite, hard working young men who just love to play the game. They come from humble hard working rural roots and are a joy to be around. They are not proud or arrogant and are just normal kids who have a lot of fun playing this sport with the little round orange ball and so happen to do it pretty darn well. If you got to know the kids you would love their demeanor and good attitudes.

You have got to love that team. The attitudes and hustle are great. I love to watch those twins and Ferguson . Tim Knipp has come a long way since I've seen him last. Good luck to you guys.

Ferg is a great shooter and has a beautiful release and shot. He shot well with the 4 treys in the 2d half, but was tossing bricks in the first half. Ferg has had games with 9 treys. I expect him to have several games this year with 10 or more treys. It would not surprise me if he had a game with 12 treys before the year is out. We come to expect shooting like 6-10 from trey land from Ferg before we say he had a good shooting game.

I know this was only a scrimmage but WOW!! Sounds like EC is for real. I'd say it'd be a little closer if these two met up in the regular season, but this shows that EC can compete with the big boys. Good luck to both teams this season!

Elliott County will probably be ranked somewhere in the 3-6 range all year long.

Wouldn't say that hes only a Soph.

Oh, I thought he was a junior

No surprise that Elliott is the real deal. I think these guys can compete for a state championship. They were very close to upseting Mason Co. last season in Rupp. They have all their starters back. I think they are better conditioned than most teams. From what I understand there is a mountain in Sandy Hook that they sprint to the top after every practice.

I agree
